1600x900 17.3" g75vw non 3d display direct pnp upgrade to 1080p 17.3" matte display?

I scoured through about 30 pages last night looking for a true, concise answer on this. But I'm 90 percent sure it will work.

In essence, I have the 1600x900 17.3" matte display on my g75vw, and saw a vendor selling the full 1080p 17.3" matte display for around 80 dollars. Always wanted to make the jump, but just wanted to make absolutely sure these are 100 percent backwards compatible?

I'm assuming as long as it's not the 3d display and has the regular 40 pin plug, it will work? And the motherboard and graphics card will auto detect it once installed and allow for the higher resolutions?

so you mean you want to change LCD pannel? ASUS are not promise it is able to use.

yes that is correct, I just want to swap out the lcd panel for the 1080p display...since the 660m is more than capable of running the higher resolutions

I believe it should work since many of the other models I've seen threads of people directly upgrading to the 1080p display with no issues whatsoever...just wanted to know if anyone has done it on a g75vw?

Did you make the swap? Did it work? I also have the 1600x900 matte display on my g75 and am interested in upgrading it to the full 1900x1080 resolution. I've been going through the forums but haven't seen a definitive answer as to whether the system allows for the upgrade. I'd appreciate for any info you can give!

Check with the Custom builders they know for sure which screens will work since they will custom install different screens.
