12.5mm Hard Drives in G74SX

Hello All,

I am about to pull the trigger on a new G74SX machine but would like to know if I can install my 1TB Seagate 2.5" / 12.5mm height drive in one of the drive bays.

The drive is currently installed in my Asus G51J which has one 12.5mm and one 9.5mm height drive bay. I am hoping the G74SX offers the same.

Can anyone please confirm?

No responses to a simple hardware question?

I am guessing the chassis is the same on the G74 as the G73. Can anyone please check on their G73 or G74 laptop if one of the two hard drive bays is taller than the other?

On my G51 there was a foam spacer in one drive bay. By removing the spacer I was able to install the taller 12.5mm drive.

You won't find any spacers in the G74SX. Drive bays are the same size. I don't have a 12.5mm drive to test. 😕
