My Armory crate app started to not load properly this morning, with an error message stating..
Update failed (Error code: 0)
Unfortunately, we encountered an unexpected update error. We suggest that you reboot the system and try updating again. You can also abort the update and continue to use Armoury Crate. Update will auto-resume the next time the system reboots.
I can pick "Exit update" to get into AC.
Windows Security simultaneously shows a message in the corner stating "Part of this app has been blocked. Some features of Armoury Crate Service may not work because we can't confirm who published ACSetup.exe that the app tried to load. Clicking learn more takes me to a Microsoft webpage about "Smart App Control has blocked part of this App..."

I have the same issue happening. I tried the uninstall tool so maybe I reinstall the whole thing and I get Smart App Control blocked an app that may be unsafe.

Saw on reddit others experiencing the same with their AOG Allys. I'm hoping this is just a passing thing that Windows can resolve with an update. Don't want to disable Smart App Control since it's apparently irreversible without a clean Windows install

Nop. I did check something in my morning, lights where off, but recover at 2 minutes. since then NO issues.
Smart app control ONLY works on install, not on apps thar already installed, and more when AC is validated UWP app. I did check something a few weeks ago before the KBxxx109 something with gear, but i did try again and was working fine.
If you run on apps that triggers the smart app control, a program or app report to oem manufacture. If you do not want ot use these features you can turn it off, but in advance in order to reactive, until now, you need reinstall windows.

I would much prefer to not to resort to this. Surely either Windows or Asus will sort out the error in the coming weeks?

I ran into the same issue today. Smart app control is blocking network access from Armoury Crate.
I am tempted to turn off smart app control. I saw that there’s a way to re-enable it without restoring windows via registry.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Cl\Policy
right click on VerifiedAndReputablePolicyState and change value from 0 to 1 to re-enable Smart app control
here’s a link on youtube showing this.

This is the best solution for now because it won't permanently affect your system and it lets you update Armoury Crate without a problem. Thank you!

Were you able to turn it on afterwards with this ?
Thanks
