ROG G20 Overhaul

So I just got a G20 and I decided to replace the stock 760 with a 980, add an SSD and upgrade the HDD. The GPU was tricky but I managed however, 43904it looks like adding the SSD and replacing the HDD is near impossible. And tips?

Looking forward to my gear getting here, I think ill do a dummy run with the card this weekend while I wait for the PSU, how is your system performing after the upgrade?

My G 20 is performing great, when I put in the SSD I also replaced the stock thermal paste so now my CPU temps are a just a few degrees lower than they were stock even with the 680 at 1098 MHz. I think that's just from how great the airflow was designed around this case. I've been doing heavy gaming at ultra settings and not once have the fans spooled up to where I've noticed them.

Hey I meant to ask you, did yours come with an extra six pin connector in the box just like mine?

I'm sure mine came with 2 six pin connectors.
I ordered the GTX780, on the website the specs say it can take this card, some reviews also have it in them but a company in the US told me that the 780 draws too much power.
I find this hard to believe when the 780 is listed on Asus's website, I'm gonna try anyway and if there are any issues ill get a gtx970 instead.
The way I see it is that at the moment the gtx745 in mine is a 50 watt card and it draws power from the single PSU that I got, if I put in the 780 that draws a smidge more than the GPU PSU can give me then there's still 50watts left over from taking out the 745.
So hopefully the extra few watts will be drawn from the primary PSU? 😄
Exciting times haha!

Actually I got a 6 pin, red/wine colored and an 8 pin, black.

thanks for all photos, keep em coming

Do y'all think the new AMD RX 480 reference will fit and be compatible with it. Thinking about getting one because of the price.

So I just bought the model from BB that came with the GTX 750. It came with one power supply. Does anyone know if you can buy the additional one that would be needed to upgrade the GPU? I can't find anything online with it.

I asked many people from Asus and no-one could give me a good answer except for ask your local retailer.
I ordered mine from E-Bay, I'm still not sure if this is the one or not but ill find out when it comes, the female connecter from the psu to the pc was the hardest to find.
Delta electronics make them, there is a picture in this thread i'm sure.

I'm nearly positive that this is the connector "Connecter size: 7.4mm ×5.0mm, with central pin inside"
Connecter size: 7.4mm ×5.0mm, with central pin inside

Mine is on the way from Shanghai, there was no option for faster shipping, just standard express, I live in Australia, it might come fost or it might not, said express so hopefully sooner than later!

I'm not 100% sure if I need to do any more than just plug the extra psu in and swap the gpu or if I have to route power from the new PSU's port.

I'm staying positive and will defo post here when I find out, so watch this space.

I ordered the GTX780 but found out that the power draw may be too much so returned it and am waiting on a GTX970, the GTX980 was a little outside my budget for now.
