Problems with my ROG G20AJ with rebooting

Hello, I bought a used Asus Rog G20AJ, everything works, CPU i7 4790K, GPU GTX 1070, Asus Turbo, 16 GB DDR3 RAM from Samsung, it boots up normally, everything works as far as it goes, nothing is overclocked, etc. I have both power connections, the only problem is when I restart, for example because of an update or so on, then the picture goes off, so no signal and the fans are running at full power and it never starts, checked for 15 minutes, can someone help me, thanks in advance

Hello,

Thank you for sharing the details of your setup. Based on your description, the issue seems to occur only during restarts, where the system powers on but fails to output a display signal and the fans ramp up to full speed. This behavior can point to a few potential causes:

BIOS/UEFI Settings – Ensure the BIOS is updated to the latest version and that all settings are restored to defaults. Sometimes incorrect or outdated firmware can cause boot issues, particularly with upgraded hardware like the GTX 1070.

GPU/Power Supply Check – Since the G20AJ uses a dual power adapter system, confirm that both adapters are properly connected and delivering sufficient wattage for the GTX 1070. Also, verify that the GPU is seated securely.

Memory Test – Try running with one RAM module at a time to rule out memory instability. Even if the system boots normally, restarts can sometimes trigger memory-related issues.

Driver Conflicts – Outdated or conflicting drivers, especially for the GPU, can cause black screen issues after restart. Perform a clean installation of the graphics driver using tools like DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller).

Thermal and Hardware Inspection – Since fans go to maximum speed, check the thermal paste on the CPU/GPU and ensure cooling is working properly. A thermal or hardware fault can prevent proper initialization during restart.

If none of the above resolves the issue, you may want to test the system with a different GPU or power adapter set to narrow down whether the fault is with the graphics card, power delivery, or motherboard.

I hope this helps you troubleshoot further. Please let us know the results after trying these steps so we can assist you better.

Thank you very much.

So, the BIOS is on version 703 and was updated in 2015. Windows 10 is installed. I've already reset the BIOS to default settings several times, but that didn't help either.

When I bought the system, it had a GTX 780 (same problem) inside, which was connected via the 8-pin connector and the 6-pin connector. I've now replaced it with my GTX 1070 with an 8-pin connector. The 6-pin connector is still connected to the motherboard but is loose in the case. I haven't done anything else, including moving any pins, because the GTX 1070 only needs 150 watts, compared to the GTX 780, which needs 250 watts.

It was the i7-4790 processor (same problem). I swapped out the i7-4790k and didn't overclock it (not using turbo mode at 4000 MHz) in the BIOS, etc.

I swapped the old Samsung DDR3 RAM sticks for new ones from Crusial (same problem).

When this happens, i.e., when I click on the restart button and then there's no image and the fans are turning on, I obviously do a hard reset, which means I hold down the power button for 5 to 10 seconds. When I turn it back on, it always says "press F1, overclocking fails?"

I don't know if this has anything to do with overclocking.

f1 to get back to the bios and if I don't change anything in the bios the system will boot normally again

Hello again update now everything is running perfectly again I only had to do the bios update or downgrade from 703 to 601 now everything is working normally restart no fans that run nonstop and always a picture when restarting would have been nice to have known that beforehand
