My ROG STRIX G16CHR Desktop MIC WON'T WORK

I've tried a USB mic, ROG headset with mic and audio jack.. two plugs, just can't get the mic to work. The sound on the headset works perfectly fine. But the mic test in sound settings won't work no matter what I do. Anyone have the same issue? Makes no sense at all.

I'm having the exact same issue, have you found a solution? I tried ASUS help desk and we tried to update drivers and reset bios which didn't help. They wanted me to do a hard factory reset but I'm not willing to do that yet.
