My CG8480 (UK)

Morning guys,

I have just ordered my CG8480 here in the UK and from what I can find these are the specs it will be delivered with:

Intel® Core™ i5-3570K Processor
8Gb DDR3 RAM
1Tb SATA hard drive
Slot-in Supermulti DVD RW
Dedicated NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 650
1 touch overclocking
802.11 b/g/n WiFi
USB 3.0; HDMI
Wired keyboard and mouse
Microsoft Windows 8

I have tried to find out more as this is the MPN: CG8480-UK003S Every page I visit gives different specification so if anyone
could provide an accurate description it would be appreciated such as motherboard model etc.

Im also here to ask if these are any upgrades that you would carry out straight away? I am looking at a SSD to add to the
system and I have never used Windows 8 so that should be an experience! I guess I may have to wait for delivery to find
exact spec and see what options are from there.

I bought this machine to replace a VERY old Dell 3000. I run an online sim racing league and will use this pc mainly for office
duties and to record our race replays via a Hauppauge PVR Gamer 2. I hope the GTX 650 (If that is indeed what comes with
the tower) will suffice. I presume I will see a massive differance from the Dell too!

Welcome to the Republic of Gamers, Kris.

The specifications varies from model to model. But as far as the motherboard goes, the last Tytan CG8480 case I was troubleshooting with an user on here, his had a P8Z77-M Pro. Regarding immediate updates, I'd definately drop a SSD in there. Minimum 120GB. I'd recommend a Samsung 840. They're fast and reliable.

Download CPU-Z, run it and click on the motherboard tab. That will tell you what model Motherboard you're using 🙂

Please clarify with your retailer what is covered by your warranty in terms of upgrades before you open the case 🙂 Some prefer you upgrade through them.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I will certainly be looking at the warranty and Im in no great rush to make any changes. It will just be nice to leave the old Delll 3000 I have and get cracking with a new machine! I had a look at SSDs and the samsung will certainly be a contender as an upgrade.

I rang Asus this morning and they are going to email me the actual spec based on the model number.
