gt15ch cutting out as if power switch turned off then back on as if nothing happened

hello

i have a gt15ch its all stock in very good condition

gtx1070

7770k i7

single stick of ddr3 16gb

so one thing i am unsure about is the power supply not asus and is 550w, if i remember correctly but the way the wires are routed etc are either stock or super clean!

so issue is

i can play aaa games like gta v up at ultra absolutely no issue

no heat issues no throttling etc

core temp reports 67c max watching videos

76c in game

the gpu im unsure but it doesnt get hotter than normal

but then 4 times in the space of nearly two weeks ive sat on desktop browsing etc

or today i watched a 1080p video and it was totally fine i paused and then went to another tab to search and got two words in. It was like someone turned the power off!

pc turned back on and its like nothing happened! even the video loaded from where i left

same thing again about 10 mins later

so i went into bios turned off turbo boost then now im typing and all 4 cores are within 31c at the moment nearly 1 hour in and no cut out!

im wondering is this possibly a failing psu? or maybe even the proccesor?

sorry for the long winded explanation but i wanted to give as much info as possible

does anyone know the stock psu in these? just find it strange its a off brand looking one where as the rest of the pc looks quite high spec?

see i plan on upgrading the gpu and the psu plus ram anyway but im just trying to figure this out

so definately no overheating or even fans ramping when it happened!

its been under load and its never happened

thanks

Hello,

The PSU is a standard ATX size so as long as you get a suitable replacement you are ok, what is in there at the moment? It should have a stick with details / voltage table and power ratings, take a picture and upload here.

I think armoury crate is suppose to be a replacement for a aegis software? Might be something to look into, GT15 show compatible. https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1043747/

As to the problem, could be the CPU or something else but usually a full power down is due to a critical temperature limit being hit or some other protection circuit tripping, like over voltage / over current...

If boost seems to solve the issue maybe stay like this? as your CPU, i7-7700K runs 4.2GHz max and only 4.5GHz boost so it's not too much of a drop, plus now you should have lower temps.
