G20AJ Upgraded to GTX 980 Having Problems

So I recently bought the G20AJ (This was a Side project because i really liked the look of the case and wanted it). I decided heck i've seen all kinds of posts about people upgrading the Graphics in this thing to much higher graphics cards and I decided to try out the GTX 980. I have the card in the case and it's on (Changed the jumpers around to what worked the computer comes on and when i'm doing web browsing or like the playstation 2 EMulator or light gaming this thing works perfectly fine.

The problem comes when i try to launch rocket league now granted this doesn't seem like it'd be a super hardcore game graphics wise I set it to 1920x1080 with 0 AA and everything else maxed out and after like 30 minutes of gameplay the system shuts off. At first I suspected that the problem was the graphics card getting to hot so I decided to do a log of the temps, power draws as well as other things to see if that was the case. The GPU never went about 61C, no more than 65%-75% TDP draw and GPU Load of like 60-75% but the game still causes my pc to crash.

The next thing I decided to try was that maybe because i had the two adapters plugged into a Surge protector rather than an the wall outlet that maybe it wasn't getting enough power. Plugged them into a seperate outlet each(they both were on one by themselves and the outlets give more than enough current to power them to max if needed) played rocket league last night with a friend for something like 2 hours without a crash. Went to bed left the pc on and then this morning i'm now having the same problem again with it crashing so the power can't be the issue.

Is there any chance that the problem could be the CPU temp because when i looked at it after turning it on it was sitting at an idle of 54-57C

Edit: I saw somewhere on this forum that people were saying to remove something from the computer a metal grill or something after you upgrade because it will just cause more heat than needed but when i searched for it today i couldn't find any of those posts does anyone know what it was?

So the GTX 980 was working on this system? I have performed an upgrade on someone else's system for them and cannot seem to get it to work. I have installed the 2 Aux power cords inside, changed the jumper to use the 180W adapter, and removed the metal grate but as soon as I run a benchmark, it crashes. (as soon as loading his 100%)

When the system crashes, the 230W power supply is in some kind of fail safe mode and needs to be unplugged in order to un-trip it. I have tried a second 230W supply with the same results. The GPU model shows that it's max draw is 180W which should be find for the 230W supply.

I have successfully gotten the benchmark to run if I pull the power consumption down to 90% with a overclocking utility but this should not be necessary. Is there something that mush be done to the other 5 Jumpers or what might I be missing?

Thank you so much for your help!

Edit:

Found the issue. Every post and every walk through only pointed to the single DC jumper. I had changed that. However, I found that the other 5 needed to be changed as well. Could be a model specific solution but this one came with an i5 and a GTX 745 + a SINGLE 230W cord.

Any chance you have a diagram or picture of how the jumpers should be to use both psu's?

Here`s mine : https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?74680-980-TI-s&p=537570&viewfull=1#post537570

Using GTX980Ti overclocked G20 full steam.

Flokke dear, Are you fully sure your G20 is physically healthy? I hear here and there some people get G20 which arent working properly due to some hardware malfunctions. That 230W PSU for the GPU can draw more than 230W, as I explained on many threads I have my Gtx980Ti overclocked and playing. Dont know why that is happening to you.

Plz elaborate more.

I'm confused on the power cables for the 750Ti, the card has 6 pin pcie female and the board had 6 pin pcie female. Do I just run a splitter?

Are you sure? can not be both Female power ports.

Surprisingly yes, both are female ports. The port on the motherboard is female and the port on the graphics card is female. Trust me I tried like crazy to get the cable I have to work. I can post pics when I eventually get home tonight. I have ordered a splitter and figured out a way to run it so it will work. Just having 2 female ports really threw me off

FYI... I ran a 6 pin pcie splitter using both male ends and it fired up with no problem!! Also my jumpers were all in the proper spot so all I had to do is plug in the 230w psu. Everything is running smoothly and loving the much better GPU! Yeah it's not a GTX 980 or 980Ti but it works. The EVGA GTX 750Ti FTW card is not a bad card.

750Ti is still among commonly used ones even these days, you`ve got yourself a good card buddy.
