ASUS Desktop PC G11CD-B13 "firmware not recognized" HELP

Any help appreciated. I have an ASUS Desktop PC G11CD-B13.

My current bios is 905. I downloaded the zip file for bios update from the asus website.

https://www.asus.com/us/Tower-PCs/G11CD/HelpDesk_BIOS/

I downloaded both Version 0701 2017/07/244.32 MBytes Update BIOS version: 0701 (For Kabylake, Oculus) and the other one for kapbylake only.

I copied the CAP file (G11CD-K-ASUS-0701.CAP) (removed from the zip) and placed it in a fat 32 formatted disk. I accessed the asus bios and used ez flash mark 2 and it keeps saying that the CAP file is not the correct bios file. "The selected file is not a proper BIOS" ...Am I supposed rename it?

Am I doing something. HELP PLEASE,
THANKS

Apologize for the confusion regarding this, but there are really 3 different G11CD sub-models using different bios versions that are mixed up and cannot be shared.

Sounds like you have the G11CD model with Intel 'Skylake' cpu if you can confirm, but your G11CD Skylake cpu model is not able to use the G11CD bios files for the Kabylake models or Kabylake Oculus models.

Another clue is that if you want to update your 905 bios version, you don't want to use a lower version like 0701 and would look for something higher than 0905 if it was available.

Hope this makes sense.

First off THANKS for replying. I have the "ASUS Desktop PC G11CD-B13 Core i5-6400 2.70GHz 16GB 1TB+512GB SSD GTX1060 Win10" purchased and can be seen at ebay link https://tinyurl.com/y988jdak

The 905 Version 0905 2017/03/13 bios is almost a year old...according to info on my mobo bios (H110 motherboard). Yet the 0701 at the asus site - which supports kabylake is actual Version 0701
2017/07/24

And below is a screen capture of the error message again about incompatible roms...So how can I use a kabylake with this mobo if I cannot upgrade the bios?

Unfortunately, the G11CD models with Skylake cpu like yours don't support Kaby Lake cpus since they don't use the same motherboard/bios as the G11CD models with Kaby lake cpus, so you would need to replace the motherboard if you really wanted to do this.

Sadly..Well that's actually not true since G11CD models have H110 chipset and it can support Kaby Lake with a microcode update. Asus just doesn't want to support their hardware
