SD card reader no longer work

I keep all the drivers and bios updated on my Rog Ally, however, the SD card reader suddenly can't read any SD card.

I checked all my cards with another computer, and it all works fine.

What should I do about it?

Does anyone experience similar issues?

yes.  nearly everyone had this issue.  consider it a rite of passage.  asus messed up and placed the card reader in a bad spot on the device.  it’s widely known as a design flaw at this point.  they tried to fix the problem by updating ACSE by allowing us to modify fan curves to cool the card reader down more, but that isn’t enough.

the fix is this:  don’t use the micro SD card reader anymore.  buy a 2 TB SSD and open your ally and replace the one that’s in there.  there’s videos on youtube showing you how to do it.

I installed a 2TB on day one, The point is not about more storage, the problem is "Why should I spend $ on a broken product? " 

ASUS should give us all partial refunds. This really kills my trust in ASUS, I have almost all my gear in ASUS (gaming laptop, monitor, router, desktop motherboard, etc.), but not anymore, if ASUS does not honestly deal with these issues, there is no reason to buy this brand ever again.

agreed 100%.  the last ACSE update borked the ability to use the XG mobile with the ally.  they know this and won’t fix it, so i’m left with an eGPU that i spent $800 on that is useless.  i can fix it by working around ACSE, but that’s beside the point.  i’m totally done with asus when i see something better take the ally’s place (looking at you, lenovo legion go)

update on this off-topic issue i had with my eGPU no longer working after ACSE update 1.3.6.0:  the newest ACSE update fixed my problem.  thank you asus

Thanks, I did, but I am now living outside of the USA, I wonder if there is still hope for my Rog Ally.
I bought it in the US, but I won't go back for another year, so ... sigh..

The failed SD card reader is why I returned my first Rog Ally, got a new one and why I returned my second Rog Ally for good. Why accept a broken product.
