Need opinions on ROG Ally

Hi all,

I travel a lot and usually take my gaming laptop with me, along with my heavy AF work laptop. I'm considering buying the ROG ally since steam deck may never come to India.

Does anyone have experience with it? I usually play RPGs like Witcher 3, Diablo 4, Divinity 2, etc. What performance can I expect? And how long does the charge last on average?

Should I buy it directly from the ROG store?

Witcher 3 has full controller support, so it should be perfect for your use.

I left my 17" laptop at work and just use my Ally for commuting.

I've been playing Witcher 3 using the ROG Ally, you will have to tweak the settings to make it run around 50-60 fps.  720p resolution seems to work better if you want more frame rate but it is still playable on 1080. I would recommend the 720 and medium settings. I haven't played it yet with the newest 331 bios and other updates, so it may run smoother in 1080 with the new updates.  As for battery life, since this is a 3D game you will most likely have to run it in performance mode or even a custom mode set to 18-20 watts depending on what performance you want. You will get a little over an hour of battery life unfortunately.  You will be able to squeeze maybe 10-15 min extra if you lower the screen brightness and change screen setting to 60hz instead of the 120. Hope this helps.
