Micro SD card still and issue?

I have 3 micro SD cards,two with a capacity of 512 and one 256.

Two of them are honestly cheap and one is made for gaming but I noticed last week one of the cards (cheap one) froze the Ally so I tried to format but couldn’t and then could format it through Switch.

But in the end the result was the same, the card was unusable.

Today something similar happened to my other (cheap) card.

Was trying to get the update for Forza but the download stopped saying error.

I tried multiple approach such as restart the device and try to install some other games with same result.

i even tried to format it but it wouldn’t allow me to do so.

Are you also experiencing the same issue? And if yes what would you suggest?

ASUS has still remained silent on the issue. On reddit and discord for ROG ally some people are saying RMAs after August were fixed, some said they still have the issue. Also apparently a class action suit is in the works:https://chimicles.com/asus-rog-ally-gaming-handheld-class-action-investigation/

Thank you for your reply, and unfortunately my Ally burned all my three SD cards.

What a shame that such a nice device is afflicted by such a big issue.

I recommend that you discard the two cheap microSD cards and purchase a new, high-quality microSD card from a reputable retailer. Gaming microSD cards are typically designed to be more durable and reliable than standard microSD cards, so I would recommend purchasing one of those.

Here are some tips for choosing a high-quality microSD card:

  1. Look for a card with a high read and write speed.
  2. This will ensure that games and apps load quickly.
  3. Choose a card from a reputable brand, such as Samsung, SanDisk, or Lexar.
  4. Avoid purchasing cards from third-party sellers, as there is a higher risk of purchasing counterfeit cards.
  5. Once you have purchased a new microSD card, be sure to format it before using it.
  6. This will clear any corrupted data and ensure that the card is compatible with your Steam Deck.

To format a microSD card on Steam Deck:

  • Go to Settings > System.
  • Scroll down to the Storage section and select Format SD Card.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to format the card.
  • Once the card has been formatted, you can install games and apps on it as usual.

Dipak did you ever read what you are responding to? This is for the ROG Ally, not the steam deck, and in the case of SD card issues, the issues are with the reader, not the cards, His reader is toast.
