How many of you use the Gyro on your Ally?
I’ve loved using the ROG Ally for its performance and portability, but I hadn’t explored its gyro functionality—until now. After making a few adjustments, the dynamic completely shifted in Forza Horizon 5. Using the gyro adds a whole new layer to the game which I didn't expect.
The real breakthrough came with fine-tuning the gyro settings. At default, the input sensitivity both in-game and in gyro parameters makes the steering a little unpredictable. However, adjusting the gyro sensitivity in Armoury Crate allowed me to strike a balance after changing a couple of functions within the game.
Calibration: Start by ensuring the gyro is properly calibrated using the Armoury Crate settings. Navigate to the Calibration section under Settings, place the Ally on a flat surface, and complete the calibration process. This helps eliminate any potential "ghost" movements that could interfere with precision.
Read the How to Guide here if unsure on how to calibrate the Gyro.
Customizing Gyro Sensitivity and Behavior: In the game profile (also set via Armoury Crate)
Here are the settings I found to be the most favourable in emulating steering. However, might be subjective and also depends on the car being used.
Under Library, Press X on FH5 and select Set Game Profile
Scroll down to Gyro.
Set Sensitivity to 160%
Gyro Behavior: Set this to act As Left Stick.
Scroll down to Smoothing and Set 5%.
Within Forza Horizon 5, set Steering Linearity to roughly 65-70%. This results in a more responsive feel under heavy turning that seems to work well.
