Ally Steam Search fields not working

When I type anything in the search fields using the Microsoft screen keyboard, no text appears…the field is blank and search results come empty.

I restarted the Ally and relaunched Steam but the problem persists.

Ive updated all software to the current version except BIOS 3.19

Yeah, it's an issue with Steam.

You need to use Steam in Big Picture Mode for it to work, which to be honest, is the best way to use Steam on the Ally.

You can activate Big Picture Mode by clicking the View menu in Steam and clicking Big Picture Mode.

You can also make Big Picture Mode the default by going to Steam Settings, Interface, then enable "Start Steam in Big Picture Mode".

using a mouse to click on the field and uing shortcut key to bring pop-up keyboard, then typing could show up in the search field

that made me wonder maybe the problem was not with steam but with touchscreen behavior of ally
