Hello light-gamer,
But when I using the same memory on x99 system in win10 is shown full 64G.

I tried to install 16G on my system, it still shwon (16G(15.7G) available), so I think it's MB's problem, hope someone can help to solve the problem.

Hi, it seems normal on X299 system, my Rampage VI Extreme also shown (32G(31.7G) available).
I have tested install 8G、16、24G、32G on my X299 system, all of them reserved 300mb
And you can find similar post on MSI Forum, so I think it's normal on X299 system

I had an X79 system before and I am using the Strix X299 at 16 GB and I am seeing the same here. What I can tell for sure is that this is NORMAL.

However I don't agree with Korth. He is messing up two different things there.

1) Windows reserving memory:
1a) On a 32 bit Windows and 4 GB of memory, the memory fills the entire adress space. (2^32 bytes is about 4 billion bytes). So Windows is forced to disable part of the installed memory in favor for it's own adress space and video memory that must go within those 4 GB. Now THAT may vary between 3 and 3.5 GB of available RAM, depending on the hardware.

1b) 64 bit Windows on a 4 GB system will allow you to use the entire memory because Windows' own adress space doesn't need to overlap with installed memory.

What we see here on the X299 platform is something else tho. We're losing like 256 MB, MAYBE because of the EFI being copied to the DDR4 RAM. But that abounts only to half of the 256 MB. Most EFIs are like 128 MB in size.

So Sorry I cannot give you an explanation what's definetly going on...but this should help clearing things up.

Hello

Most devices installed on the motherboard as well as some low level drivers require a portion of physical memory for mapping. This has always been the case and as such is a non-issue.
