Stupid question: Can a 4090 work on a RAMPAGE VI EXTREME?

hello!

I bought a nvidia 4090 to add to my trusty 2080ti.  The thing is that the 4090 gives the load VGA Bios message and I don't know if its because it's not compatible with the mother board. 
any help is more than welcome 🙂

Remove the 2080  and install the 4090 in slot 1.
