ROG STRIX X299-E GAMING 00 error

Hi,

I hope someone can help me.

When I boot my PC after it has been turned off, it always goes straight to error 00.

All I then have to do is hold down the power button, wait for it to shut down and then boot it again and the problem is solved.

However it annoys me a lot so I would like to hear if anyone have encountered this issue or might have a fix for me?

It seems it does not matter if I OC or not.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Do you have XMP turned on? If so, try turning that off as I had the same issue on my board (with the new bios 3006).

Agree with @croxy . There are problems with the 3006 bios and x299 boards using certain ram memory modules. Either turn off xmp or reflash the bios to the previous one.

What's your ram model?

My ram are G.Skill Trident Z RGB LED DDR4 4133MHz 2x8GB (F4-4133C19D-16GTZR) - running at 4000MHz.

I will try to disable XMP as I'm running with the latest bios 3006.

I will post if it's solved. It's really strange I can shut the computer down now 25 times and it will boot every time, it's only after a days shutdown the issue occurs.

Wrathier,
make sure currently installed RAM modules and its frequency must be recommended by the Motherboard mnaul, Processor also must be compatible by MB .
check all cables connections from the powersupply to the MB pins.
POwersupply mustbe recommended by MB or it should have enough watts say some 1000W if you installed graphics card.

remove all the external deviices except keyboard mouse. remove graphics card , keep only one RAM module , make sure Proceszsor Fan should connected .
apply proper thermal paste on top of procesor , fix proper recommened heatsink on processor.

All parts are qualified according to https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA2066/ROG_RAMPAGE_VI_EXTREME/X299.pdf?_ga=2.202230998.698061...

I run an EVGA SuperNOVA T2 1000W Platinum PSU and the little brother the EVGA 750W SuperNOVA T2 is on the list.

The CPU Core i9-7900X is on the list here: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-X299-E-GAMING/HelpDesk_CPU/

The G.SKILL F4-4133C19 are listed here: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA2066/TUF_X299_MARK1/Intel_CoreX-SeriesCPU_6core_or_above_DR...

However, I just noticed that it says 1.4V on the list and not 1.35 that both XMP and I use right now with XMP disabled. That might be the reason so if disabling XMP hasn't solved the problem - I will know tomorrow, I will try to put 1.4V into the ram instead of 1.35V even that https://www.gskill.com/search?keywords=f4-4133c19d-16gtzr says that 1.35 should be sufficent.

Another good thing about removing XMP is that Latency went down from 19-19-19-39-2 (tCAS-tRC-tRP-tRAS-tCR) to 17-18-18-36-2 (tCAS-tRC-tRP-tRAS-tCR) which should be a tiny bit faster. 😄

On another subject, I should be placed number one here: https://valid.x86.fr/bench/1 for single core performance in April as I scored 548.5 and current holder is at 543. My score https://valid.x86.fr/ipdi3f. Just a weird thing that it hasn't updated. 😞

Wrathier,
I am not using your model motherboard, I have little basic knowledge so I given ideas.

I called GSkill and there is no problem running at 1.35V . Disabling XMP will lower the RAM speed because you are now not overclocking the native RAM speed, but maybe not that noticeable.

raju2529:
Those are good ideas, but this issue is caused by an incompatibility between the Asus 3006 bios update, x299 motherboards, GSkill Ram (in certain series) and when XMP is turned on. Turning off XMP makes the RAM fall back to the native frequency rather than overclocking. Users should not have to do this to make this combination work. The GSkill modules that have the problem are QVL listed and worked with previous bios versions.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions and the XMP tryout. Unfortunately it didn't work out - same issue.

Any more suggestions is appreciated and if not thanks for the help.
