Rampage VI Extreme bios 2002 issue

Brockmonster

Well I took the plunge and flashed to bios 2002 from 1503, 1704 and 1902 plagued me with random system lockups so I was hoping that 2002 resolved the issue.

How wrong was I well saying that all was good for 10 minutes then a random system lockup. I have tried setting the memory settings manually with no joy.
XMP is a no go zone and manually setting everything was the same. After changing settings for most of the afternoon I noticed that when the memory voltage was on auto it was it was ramping it up to 1.500v ?? It should be 1.350v so I set it manually and I could not get the system to boot for love nor money with the memory at 3200Mhz and again everything was in manually.

At this point I was giving up the will to live so I left the memory voltage on auto to get it to boot in to windows and ran some bench test with AID64 and all was good.
I will add that prior to all of this I had ran Memtest86 using bios 1503 and all 4 tests completed with no errors.

After using the pc for about 30 minutes my screen went blank ?? after moving the mouse around the screen my short cuts came back as the curser moved over them?? so I refreshed the screen and everything was back. I put this down to a memory issue and put the memory back to default settings along with the voltage on auto which was showing 1.200v which are correct for default.
one other test that I did was I went in to tweakers paradise to the bottom of the page and changed the DRAM eventual voltage to 1.350v for A,B,C.D along with the memory settings put in manually, this then showed the voltage in extreme tweaker at 1.350 when it was set to auto and not the 1.500v showing before but again I was unable to get the system to boot

My memory is
G.SKILL F4-3200C14Q-32GTZR Trident Z RGB Series 32 GB (8 GB x 4) DDR4 3200 MHz PC4-25600 CL14 Dual Channel Memory Kit which is on the QVL list.

I have switched back to bios 1 which is 1503 where I have no issue with voltages or XMP, any help guys because I'm completely stumped :confused::confused::confused:

Let's trying F5 Load Optimized Default first, Then setting CPU overclock profile to "XMP" after that retest stability via your tools such AIDA64 stress test , Realbench 2.56 or Memtest86 agains .

Hi Restsugavan thanks for the reply

Ok I have loaded optimized defaults and had no issue with lockup so I have then overclocked the CPU 42% to 3700MHz with the memory at default 2133@ 1.200v with no issue after running AID64 or Realbench.

If I select XMP 3200 14,14,14,34,2T bios auto sets the voltage to 1.500v which is wrong, it should be 1.350v. Now I have tested it at that voltage and speed but the screen goes blank after about 10 minutes and I need to refresh it to get it back.

I have even tried setting it to Manual and entering the timings and voltage to 1.350 with no joy, system lockup. Is this a memory incompatibility issue despite it being on the QVL list or is it something I'm missing.

Let's checking your overclock profile first. When you selecting " XMP " like this picture it must read your GSkill DDR4 kit its XMP Profile for checking first.
After setting "XMP" Profile above. Verify your DDR4 kit timing and voltage its used via BIOS menu before hit F10 to save setting and exit.

82438
If you setting the above menu completely. Your system must running smoothly.

There are many kind of GSkill DDR4 3200 kit around the markets. Some designed for Intel XMP 2.0 platform. Other designed for AMD Ryzen platform.
Both are the same speed and timing like DDR4 3200 16-18-18-38-2T but there will be any compattible issues when combine those kits together for
your system. Due the same speed and timing kit may not use DRAM IC chip same manufacture.
(Samsung B-die may not happy to working with SK Hynix parts or Micron parts due different design and yields)

To ensure that it will not bring any problem to your rigs, you must choose quad channal kits and testing it before combine them better. 😮

Hi,
Real easy to test
You have dual bios correct
If 2002 acts weird try 1705 on the other bios and see if it acts weird too

F4-3200C14Q-32GTZRX is the AMD optimize product
http://www.gskill.com/qvl/165/167/1536719292/F4-3200C14Q-32GTZRX-Qvl
OP does have a compatible set for his board
http://www.gskill.com/qvl/165/166/1536560629/F4-3200C14Q-32GTZR-Qvl
B-Die rules but may be best to manually set timings and try T1 not T2 after clearing CMOS !

It's well known RGB kit are funky to say the least you give up performance for looks never a good exchange
Your non RGB set I have this set on x99
https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232348

3600C16 B-Die on x299 works fine for the most part but I do not use xmp profile just manually set and tune for best performance.
Might as well get used to manual timing 4000 MHz++ will need tuning anyway but 3200C14 is a lot closer to getting 4k than any hynix or micron kit 😄

If you want to see some 3200C14 timings to compare yours with here's mine asrock mem config list

If you want some 4k scroll up to post 13 on the same thread.

Hi Restsugavan
I set XMP for the memory and set multicore enhancement to Auto. checked the timings and manually set the voltage to 1.35v. it locked up during the AID64 test.
One thing is bugging me about the voltage because it shows 1.36v on the left side of the manual setting of 1.35v so I set it to 1.34 which gave me 1.3480 on the left so I ran AID64 and it passed:D

I ran Realbench and it locked after 8 minutes:( so again I set everything manually and it still locks up. now I have reverted back to default 2133 1.200v were there is no issue.

Think its time to bin the memory and find something that works as stated.

Just installed bios 2002 and so far no problems, ran realbench, score 287.
CPU at 46
Memory at 64gb 1.35v 3600mhz 15,15,15,36 ( 8 x 8gb)
First time a bios has worked out of the box for me.*
Temperatures lower than 1902 but that could be influenced by ambient temp?*

I've been messing with memory timings for the last 8 hours and still no joy passing Realbench on 2002

ThrashZone I have tried your settings in the link and it looks like a no go so I have 3 options
option 1 run at default 2133
option 2 switch bios back to 1503 and run at 3200
option 3 bin the memory and get some G.SKILL F4-3200C14Q-32GTZ or even 3600 GTZ and forget about RGB
