R6EO Instability

Still having stability issues with bios 0504. I had installed windows with 0218 with no problems at all. CPU is by SL. I keep getting problems on cold boot. I had BD memory error 2 days ago and changed the Uncore voltage from auto to 0.200 and it crashed without getting to windows. Decreased Uncore to 0.100 and it went through Memtest 400% with no errors and, more importantly, it did not crash. I had already tested the memory outside windows with no errors. On cold boot this morning, I had another crash with Uncore at 0.100V. Machine came back up with "memory is OK, press F1 to save memory settings." I decreased Uncore to 0.050V.

Where to go from here? As I said, I installed windows with 0218 bios version and no problems.

Seems the more I alter the VDIMM the more instability is induced. Still farting with tuning the memory. Fewer crash codes this afternoon with the following:

Did you have this running on the rampage extreme vi before you “upgraded” motherboards?

No, I had Corsair dominator 3600 memory on that machine.

Still tuning the VCCSA and VCCIO voltages. Seems to be more unstable as the VCCSA voltage is reduced below 1.12V. Interesting to watch the interaction between these 2 parameters. I have the two at 1.15V now with VDIMM at 1.35V as recommended for the latter. Had a BD code with 1.15V SAV and 1.17V for the VCCIO. Still testing.

Surprised you’re still at it. I would have downclocked a long time
Ago. *

Yeah I know, the memory controller is only rated to 2666MHZ just because Asus says the board can do 4000+ Mhz doesn't mean your memory controller can.

I’m obstinate. It worked for weeks on 0218 with no issue. That’s why I’m putting in the extra time. *

Mite of just been luck there are more factors than just the bios to think about also time is money as they say lol.

Perhaps that's true of course. It's a hobby for me for the most part. I'm just miffed I didn't record all the values with 0218. It was so stable.

As mentioned previously, with that density the margins will always be tight at those speeds. You need to look at the sub timings, too.
