Dear ROG Community,

On 03.03.2018 i`m updated my PC

Motherboard: Asus ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega
GPU: Asus ROG Poseidon 1080Ti (Will be upgraded for Asus ROG Matrix 2080Ti Sli, when it will become available in Estonia)
RAM: 4 x G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4 4600 MHz 2x8GB (F4-4600C18D-16G)
Cooler: ROG Ryujin 360
Storage: Samsung SSD 970 PRO NVMe M.2 PCIe 1TB
PSU: Corsair AX1500i

My results are very poor with stock configuration:

My PC purpose is only for gaming. I`m really need good advice from professionals, how to OC my rig for daily gaming. I don`t want to break records, but i want to get from my rig as much as it possible, but its need to be very stable and not over-stressed. Mates, please help me.

For example 07.03.2019 i tried to use XMP profile. Even on 3500MHz for RAM, PC doens`t boot at all 😞

P.S If i made wrong new thread, i`m very sorry for that.

No sorry needed...just more people will se a new thread...

Can I ask about your RAM....is that a single kit....is says 4x and then the kit is 2x. Have you combined 2 of the same kits?

Dear Arne,

Unfortunately, in Estonia, its unavailable to buy 8 x kits, so yes, i bought 4 pcs of G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4 4600 MHz 2x8GB (F4-4600C18D-16G). Total i have 8 RAM sticks.
I think it is very bad decision?

Best regards,
Johnnie

Hmmm...OK I suspect a lot of problems come from that...

Detailed explanation here https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?57038-Don%92t-combine-memory-kits!-The-meat-and-potatoes-o...

Basically you want a single quad channel kit...and I know the maximum supported is 4000+ but that is difficult to achieve unless you stick to the kits on the QVL for the board.
Even more difficult for all 8 slots.

For gaming 64GB is not really needed...I know it's nice to fill slots for the "bling" but...

Can you return the RAM?

A single quad channel kit of 32GB at say 3600MHz would be way more stable and "plug and play"

Dear Arne,

OMG... I really didn`t know that.

So best that i can get from G.Skill is:
https://g-skill.co.uk/collections/desktop-memory/products/64gb-8gbx8-g-skill-trident-z-rgb-ddr4-pc-d...

I only can try to return RAM 😞

OK, so that kit is qualified with the board and a single kit...the chances of it running ar much better...but it's still a lot of memory and a high frequency....you might need to spend time in the BIOS adjusting voltage etc. to get it running...

Check out my happy build guide in my sig;)

Maybe someone here has that kit and can comment...

Dear Arne,

I like high speeds and a lot of memory 😄 If be honest , only reason, that i bought system for Intel X-Series, because of 44 lane. I want to have RIG with SLI GPUs. And second reason, it gift from my birthday from my wife 😄 And about speed. The new Rampage VI Extreme Omega supports up to 4266 MHz, am i right?

Your guide is priceless 😄 Really like it 😉

Best regards,
Johnnie

Yep...4266 is the max...but even then it depends a lot on the CPU...i.e. your particular sample and it's memory controller

4266 might be possible for a smaller kit and after some playing in the BIOS.

Cheers:o

Hi Arne,

Thank You very much for Your advice! It helps a lot to start understand the problem roots. So i really will try to return RAM, and try to buy Quad Channel kit. I hope It will works normally (https://g-skill.co.uk/collections/desktop-memory/products/64gb-8gbx8-g-skill-trident-z-rgb-ddr4-pc-d...).

But i wait for CPU overclocking advice 🙂 Something for maxed performance for gaming. Maybe 4.5 GHz for all 16 cores always? And there is thread, about Turbo boost 3.0 bug. Do i need to "Enter the UEFI and go to MFC Mode override, select Native OS Support" as Silent Scone adviced?

Best regards,
Johnnie

Well, I don't have that platform...so hopefully some of the X299 crowd can help you out with things like that...but if Silent Scone advised that somewhere you can consider it good!
