Well for three hours now I have tried to get any version to work on bios 2.
At last I have finally managed to load 1301, after about 30 try’s, will try 1401 this evening.
As this is the first time of switching to bios 2 , I was very surprised it would not work and feeling a bit disappointed ( because it’s a great board) but , faith renewed:D it will load a bios on 2. I can now switch between 1 and 2
Method used,
Clr cmos, unplug from wall. ( for 10 mins)
Press start button several times ( told it drains any residual power in capacitors?)
Plugged in**
Loaded 1301 via usb/ bios button.
Powered down, unplugged from wall.
Plugged in *and cleared cmos then unplugged again for 10 mins after draining capacitors.
Plugged in and booted.
Booted to bios so f5 and dram voltage to 1.35 and saved.
Re-booted fine with no problems.
Why this rigmarole was needed I really don’t know but glad to have 2nd bios now working, I’m sure 1401 will now load (???)*

I guess it's fine. Just used flashback routine on bios 2 chip out of curiosity with 1401 and it worked beautifully. Don't know what occurred before. ??

Seems bios 2 rebel’s due to lack of attention, seems it likes to be used lol.

Just loaded this, it seems to break DIP5 app in Win 10 1803. App hangs and stutters, never loads. Otherwise the bios is smooth and fast.

so any benchmarks?

Is performance better or worse?

Aura still working? (LoL)

I scared to touch anything that has to do with Asus Software these days.

Hey Rob W any special instructions I am going to try it tonight on BIOS 2.

Abaidor, I think it might be just my bios 2 *as no one else seems to have this problem,
It will be interesting to see if yours flashes ok on bios 2, just flash it in the normal way but be prepared to restart several times if it doesn’t work straight away, my post further above gives the procedure I followed.
As soon as you get into bios hit F5 enter F10 and enter to load defaults and save, then your good to go.*

I tested bios 1401 with microcode 43 and 4D (spectre patch disabled)
Cinebench, CPU-Z and for storage, AS SSD and Crystal Disk Mark
And it's the same, a little bit better with the 4D, but 1 or 2 points

I will test the 4D with the spectre patch activated
Sorry for my english 😄
