Nice info. Look like ASUS optimized performance for 02000043 microcode very impressive.*

I’m on vacation holidays. Can’t wait to test with 7980XE. Master tistou77 anything update from
0200004D intel lastest microcode updated 15 May 2018?*

just downloaded 1401 from ASUS site for win 10;
switched to second bios ( just in case?) and flashed new bios.
Result rig wont boot past D5 test nvram.
tried flashing and re installing but , no go.
flipped back to 1301 bios and boots fine and stable,
Conclusion ? I think i'll give this one a miss for now!

Did you try clearing the cmos before and after the flash? What method did you use?

Hi Hopper64 the method I used as below
switched to bios 2
Clr cmos button> turn off and remove plug (5 mins)
plug in usb with R6E.cap (1401) bios on to flash port and flashed using button on back.
when finished removed plug for 5 mins and re powered up.
press start and bios fail with test nvram, tried about 12 times but no go,
fail each time, so cleared cmos again, switched back to the other bios ( on board buttony thingy lol) and re downloaded the 1401 bios from ASUS site, re named it again and carried out same loop several times ( reminded me of the infamous NVidia loop of old ) anyway!
switched back to bios 1 re _booted and all's fine.( on 1301)
seems 1401 does not want to work for me, yet? but seems ok for others? don't you just love a challenge??
will check this one out further, maybe on bios 2 tomorrow, (could screw both bios though ?)

Just thinking of this, I have had problems using the flashback method on bios 2 on this board too. I have used EZFlash in the bios which works quite well also.

I unplug the power and drain and juice from the system first by holding the power button down for a few seconds. Then with the plug out I clear the CMOS. Then power up the board and use the flashback method until flashing bios chip stops. Unplug power, drain any power off the board, and then clear the CMOS again. Power up and boot. Maybe that will help??

Try flashing via BIOS menu, as would not install for me either.
When booting it was displaying installing new BIOS but still showed the old BIOS after going back to see if it installed.

p.s This was on BIOS 2 as well.

I guess that makes three of us that have the (almost) identical issue with bios 2 on this board. I typically use the flashback method on bios 1 without any problems, but bios 2 yields the same issue. I have seen the same bios after using the flashback routine on bios 2 chip and resorted to EZ Flash in the bios 2 menu itself.

Let try this link*http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA2066/ROG_RAMPAGE_VI_EXTREME/ROG-RAMPAGE-VI-EXTREME-ASUS-1401....

I don’t have any problem via EZ Flash Utility on BIOS. Flash the 1st BIOS then switch to BIOS 2 . Flash the 2nd BIOS again.
Now modding 1401 with 0200004D Spectre Variant 3a / 4 fixed. Benchmark comparison to 02000043 microcode will report here soon.*

I will give it a try at flashing bios 2 with an older bios and see what happens? Otherwise will flash to bios 1 with 1401,
Weird why it won’t flash to bios 2 though !
