Hello

I propose this topic to group the bios modded, it will avoid the interested person to seek the link 🙂

A feedback or thanks (or thanks boutton) is always nice (and I do not like leechers) 😄 😄

i use 702 with mc29 you have more performance gains also more OC headroom in my case, being 1.362v for 5.1all cores Vs normal stock bios 1.4v for 5.1 cores, less voltage overall in the board a less tweaking necessary, even if you use it default it has better performance

you have a few discussions a pages behind:

https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?108495-Modded-bios-Rampage-VI&p=811170#post811170

Correct 702 is the one I'm on , which I found 0 diff from the officia 702 after updating to, so I guess I'll try 0603 then as I didn't see any performance changes from that custom bios, still requires the same voltage unless there's something else I should be doing/disabling

As for the discussion you linked it had no useful information since it only mentioned how good the 0603 was but no mention on how good 702 was. I've read through the thread and asking now since its been a while.

How are you keeping a 10980XE @ 1.362v ( I thought 1.3 was deemed max safetyand any more is considered degrading ) cool and not overheating?, I have a huge waterloop (4x 480 RADS x 32 fans AP15's ) and still overheat @ 1.285+ when at 5.1ghz( unable to stress test basically )

Are you using a chiller?

no chiller, so you have more performance on 603 modded?

Â*https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_4RC4IYuNs0 Â* You can see my setup here, you also can see my temps ( pack ) on other vÃ*deos i use per core voltage but the min voltage is 1.335 and max is 1.364 all 5.1 temps are good , benchmarks also ok

Hi Guys,

I own one X299 APEX motherboard, tried to mod myself the latest bios (3201) with lastest modules but i could not.
Is someone of you so nice to share yours ?]

Thank you,

On another note, has anyone running the previous bios on their Omega noticed any OC instability with the newer bios?

I can’t speak for the Omega but can say that MC49 drops temps by 3-4C on the R6E and R6EE for me. The newer micro codes are all about vulnerability patches that slow you down. My Network is so twisted with everything going through the ISP router to anther router on one port so you first have to figure out that port then get through a hardware firewall and into the router where everything is connected and also in a twisted fashion. If you can get that far then have at it. All my sensitive information is on encrypted drives.*

I flashed the 3006 MC49 Bios and when checking the microcode in the bios, MC49 was not there. Still the same microcode as the non-modded bios. That has me a bit confused. I thought maybe that MC49 was not Cascade-X compatible, but you said you are running MC49 on your 10980, so I am not sure what's going on.

@tistou77,

You are the master of BIOS and mCode testing and evaluation.

In your professional experience, what is the best performing mCode and BIOS combo for the 10980XE on R6EE?

I'm asking because every time I "upgrade" performance goes down and i lost track of all possible combinations and how they performed through otu teh last 1 year.
I remember performance was good with BIOS 0401 and I think also with 0504 both with uCode F00 (cascade lake X of course). I think remember that F01 was also good performance but that everything after that has been straight down hill (I think) at least as far as uCodes are concerned.

So what's the best package BIOS and uCode for Cascade lake X? (You've posted Bios 0603 with F01 on the front page.

And yeah disregard all security concerns for this comparison, they are largely academic anyway so...

Thank you for all the work that you do on this forum!

@tistou77, any chance of Rampage VI Omega 3006 bios with MC29? Just flashed the "regular" 0802 bios into the Omega, which has MC29, and performance seems improved. For example, Cinebench R15 went from 4599 to 4731. R20 scores also improved from 10,582 to 11,123.

Im doing well on the 702 MC29, best yet.
The original killed performance, especially on my drives. When a pair of VROC drive low que depth random reads drop from 200MBPS to 20 MBPS there is a problem! loaded up MC29 and its back where it belongs with better CPU performance with a lower Vcore. I can run CB23 at 4.8GHz and stay around 80C. Run Blender classroom in a loop or the long benchmark and not pass 85C. Before I was taking longer, lower scores and 5C higher as it needed 1.25Vcore instead of the 1.235 Im running now. Also able to drop VCCIN to 1.8 and LLC to 4.
