Missing C3 support with x299 Strix and 7820x

Hey Guys,

Is there anybody here on behalf of Asus? I would really like to get some answers.

This spec sheet clearly states the C3 is supported by Skylake-X.
https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/datasheets/6th-gen-x-series-datasheet-v...

But in the BIOS it says not supported, and I can observe in the OS that is not going to C3 state, just C2 and C6.

Why is this? Is there any explanation?

Thanks in advance,

Marton

There is a multi year history of Skylake C3 not being friendly with Win 10 and Linux causing freezes and crashes. Since it is not needed for these systems to perform I am ok with locking it out. According to Intel the C3 function is not present in all Skylake SKU's so it's considered a platform/OS dependent option.

Just because it may be available in the X series does not mean the mb maker has to make use of it. Especially if it is problematic.
