After seriously error on NOVA LAKE S aka " Core Ultra 400 Series " circuit burnt and system damage under QS1 stage on March 2025. Intel foundary team digging to the root cause and spending more than 1000 hrs inhouse extreme condition testing to ensure that Intel 18A Node can be reliability to competting with TSMC 2N Node last month.
Intel going to make a new monster based on Panther Cove -X P-Core Diamond Rapid SP which coming with 192 P-Panther Cove X Core 384 Thread 500W TDP. The monster chip laying on LGA 9324 pin contact within many new technology both microarchitect side and advance packaging side.

Thanks! This might be something to consider in 2026 IF (and that is a big IF) Intel can actually release a HEDT in the lineage of X products 7980XE -> 10980XE that has enough cores and are competitively priced.
Meanwhile, AMD is just about to launch the 9000 series Zen 5 Threadripper non pro and pro:
https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-ryzen-threadripper-9000-preorders-start-july-23-96-core-pro-9995wx-l...
The HEDT, i.e. non pro (following the old X series lineage) will be priced this way:
AMD Threadripper 9960X 24 cores: $1600
AMD Threadripper 9970X 32 cores: $2400
AMD Threadripper 9980X 64 cores: $5300
Intel has nothing that can compete with this non pro X series!
AMD is also launching the Pro version, but these are much more expensive with SKUs covering 12 up to 96 cores. the Pro version is basically competing with Intel's Xeons W series Granit rapids.
Now, the question is: Given that our 7980XE and 10980XE is getting a bit old, is this the time to jump ship away from Intel HEDT (since Intel does not have a credible X upgrade path...) and move to AMD Threadripper?
I'm going to wait and see... but for the first time in a very long time I'm open to consider moving to AMD Threadripper.

Hi @Int8bldr ✌️😁✌️
I see , The coming of AMD Thredripper 9000 series may awake Intel to do something to save their HEDT or Workstation market share.

@Int8bldr However Intel Xeon 6 LGA 7529 was also interesting choice. More new technology and expandable keys to competting with new AMD Threadripper 9000 WX and X series .XEON 6 LGA 7529 can be choice between P - ( Redwood Cove ) and E- ( Crestmont ) cores configuration.
Xeon 6 had more new high speed interconnect
Redwood Cove P-Core may older architect but it has more core 128 VS 96
Xeon 6 support Multiplex Rank DIMMs by contrast AMD not support
Intel Support max 12 Channel DDR5 instead 8 Channel max on TR WX series
If the money not major wall for you. I think Intel Xeon 6 LGA 7529 was more attractive CPU than AMD Threadripper 9000 WX and X Series

Money is of course the issue. Intel can produce a Xeon but for $4K-$12K to compete with Threadripper Pro 9000 but what I want is an Intel X series HEDT priced at approx. 2$K (like 7980XE was) with 32 (or even 48 cores) competing with AMD Threadripper 9970X 32 cores which is priced at $2400 MSRP.
Intel currently do not have a 32 core HEDT at approx $2K. Intel have nothing!
I really hope Intel get their act together or they'll lose loyal customers like me and market share. and once gone...

@Int8bldr Hi friends.
Personally I think Intel will offer Xeon 6-W LGA 4710 Series to competting with AMD sTR5 6094 socket. There are same 8CH DDR5 support and few PCIe 5.0 lane more both platform on September - October 2025. However both are dead end platforms due AMD going to go with Intel Style on ZEN 6 Era. They've seen Intel LGA 7529 and 4710 plot thus next wave of EPYC and Threadripper may coming with different socket .
Both XEON 6 LGA 4710 and ZEN 5 sTR5 LGA 6094 are going to out of date. Intel will release LGA 9324 for Diamond Rapid and Sierra Forest both coming with new Intel Advance Performance Extension (APX) and Intel AVX 10.1 & 10.2
If you didn't hurry up. Keep the money for 2027 upgrade maybe good idea. Both Windows 12 and Windows 2027 server also optimized for new Intel APX. 😁

Given intel's last earnings report and announced 15% layoffs, I am not confident Intel will do anything for the enthusiasts going forward. I hope they also will prioritize enthusiasts - I really do! But I think it will be proper Xeons (with real P cores) for corporations and garbage hybrid P+E+LP (and those are butchered P cores) cores for everyone else (because we do only need that - ha!) => nothing for us. and that means AMD Threadripper is the only way forward - unfortunately...
