Hi everyone,

Thanks MoKiChU for this. I assume it work on my Rampage VI Apex?

My Asus Rampage VI Apex is using BIOS 1401 and Intel ME firmware 11.12.77.1664 (I updated the ME firmware manually).

Should I update my BIOS to version 3201 and then install this firmware 11.12.80.1734 ?

Will the BIOS update fail if the ME firmware is higher than the ME firmware the BIOS contains? The Asus release notes for most BIOS updates include the text “Update Intel ME firmware

Thanks for any advice.

Hi,

Correct, this is the Intel ME firmware you need for your motherboard.

You can update the Intel ME firmware independently of your BIOS (if you want to stay on your current BIOS 1401). If later you want to switch to BIOS 3201, if it contains a more recent Intel ME firmware, it will be updated, otherwise, the current one will remain in place.

Excellent and thanks for confirming on both questions. You're the best MoKiChU !

Hi MoKiChU,

Out of curiosity where did you originally obtain this ME firmware update e.g. Station Drivers, WinRaid or elsewhere? Are you making it available since older Asus boards like my Rampage VI Apex are considered at or near end of life or because Asus simply does not provide these updates soon enough?

I have seen two versions of this update available, the 5 MB version and this 1.5 MB version. Previous firmware versions from Asus have also been 1.5 MB.

I have not applied it yet but will do soon since the vulnerabilities it resolves are quite serious according to Intel's security advisory.

Thanks for any clarification and again for this valuable download.

Hi MoKiChU

Many thanks for this update; I eventually got the time to install it yesterday and everything went fine. My system is working fine as always.

I really appreciate your time and effort keeping us up to date. Its a shame Asus doesn't see fit to provide on-going ME firmware updates. Best wishes for the New Year.

Thank you for suggesting it. One can still wonder why the support of asus / rog does not offer it on the hardware support page. They still only have Intel ME version 11.12.77.1664

You can download it from Asus official page. It's already there.
