Hi,
Just got approved rma from Intel for a 9940x that core temps were 20c different at all core 45
That is basically it's turbo speed hitting 107c
Many pictures/ screen shots after running blender open data long and short tests which are beasts 🙂

So, the Core i9-10980XE became available today on Newegg.com

I snapped up one before it got out of stock (like now) - should be delivered to my home by December 27 according to Newegg...

We'll see.

Got my Encore ready!

I just ordered a i9-10920X to replace my i9-7900X on my Rampage VI Apex board. Got it for $750, pretty close to the list price. Its not a big leap up from my 7900X but since I use it almost 90% for gaming I wanted to keep less cores and hope for better OC overhead. Has anyone put one of these new Cascade Lake X CPUs in an RVI Apex yet?

Wondering what the OC potential of this CPU is if anyone has one and had tried it out. I don't want to go crazy just a small OC to get some cores maybe up to 5Ghz or so.

I installed my new 10940x and i firmly overclocked to 4.6ghz to all cores, so far all runs fine.
I played long gaming sessions and all is rock stable.
After a few days i started my pc and play again and i turned on afterburner and i see that all cores running
on 4.1ghz.
Nothing was changed in the bios or windows.
Restarting or shutdown the pc does not help....still 4.1ghz.
Going in bios and set all oc setting back to default/auto, and still 4.1ghz.
Several restarts and playing arround with the settings in the bios and still 4.1ghz ^^
Again and again in the bios trying several settings and suprisly my settings are accepted again!
This happens the second time, and i think it will comes again.
Is my CPU faulty or something else?!

Its a Rampage APEX VI 2002 Bios.

Let me know if you figure out why its doing that. I have my new i9-10920X sitting on my desk right now, making sure both my BIOS are update to 2002 before I put it in case I ever have to use the 2nd BIOS I want it to be able to detect my CPU :).

Soon as my daily C drive backup finishes I'll put it in.

BTW has anyone used this tool before https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/docs/processors/core/performance-maximizer.html
It says it supports these new line of 10900X+ CPU's but when you go to downloads it looks like it hasn't been updated yet maybe as its only showing for 9900K and a few lower models are supported. Software was last updated in May.

A bit surprised after getting my 9940X to 5GHz all cores, a little warm so backed it off to 4.8 for daily driver. Been running it that way since its launch.
Whats your setting in BIOS as for LLC, VCCIN, XMP etc? Should run all cores 4.6 without batting an eye. Also what are you using for cooling. These chips still run hot since 79XX series. Air dont cut it and meager AIOs dont cut it either. Install and run HWINFO and see whats going on.

I got mine installed, just ran Time Cop Extreme for a quick test of temps and such. See attached, this is stock with no overclock at all, RAM set to normal no XMP. These CPU's seem to use a lot of Core VID, also HWiNFO latest beta doesn't seem to show the core VID for all 12 cores, only shows 10 (I fixed this by resetting everything to defaults I guess it still had old settings from 7900X lingering). Thought it seems to show all 12 cores everywhere else. AIDA64 also shows the core hitting 1.33V from max with no OC at all so I wonder if that is just normal for these model CPUs or if I got a crappy lottery CPU. I don't remember my 7900X going over 1.2 even when I had a small OC on it.

It happened again, in the middle of operation....
Hoing into the Bios playing arround with the frequncies and after few restrarts,
for now the clock is normal....
I hope itts a bios issue and ASUS will see that.

EDIT:
When the 4,1ghz issue happens in XTU showing current EDP throtteling.

When the cpu runs correctly and under full load @4.6ghz on all cores, and XTU is current EDP throtteling not showing "YES".
