Asus rog Rampage vi Apex board

Hoping someone can help me out.

The board has two dimm slots with an adapter for each for M.2 drives. I am putting 2 drives on one DIMM in M.2_1 and M.2_2 and one on the other DIMM in M.2.1.

The board has 6 SATA connections.

My question is, if I am using the dimm adapter for the M.2 drives, am I losing sata ports of the 6 on the board? If so, am I losing them numerically? Like since I am using 3 M.2 drives, I lose SATA ports 1-3?

Thanks. I did try looking through the manual but I don't see anything that addresses this.

What is your CPU friend?

Look like you've 28 lane PCIe 3.0 CPU installed on the board. Please see your manual and read it again on CPU type.

However If you have 3 x NVME SSD on your rigs there are no need SATA anymore.

You can use external SSD to archive best storage performance.
