I would like to post my observation concerning an issue with the ASUS Prime X299-A II Motherboard in the hope that some fellowe owner might be able to suggest something which I have missed.
Furthermore, even if there are no suggestions forthcoming, then this post might at least serve to inform other current or future owners of this motherboard, who might also be experiencing the same issue, that they are not the only ones affected by this problem.
The issue relates to the Aura LED lighting. To be more specific the LED lit Prime logo on the motherboards I/O shield. The problem being that this LED lighting does not turn off when the PC is shut down to the S5 state. The lighting effect will freeze, but the LEDs remain lit.
The 12V RGB LED strip and the 5V Addressable RGB LED strip do turn off. It is simply the motherboard I/O shield LEDs which remain on.
I have an up-to-date version of the BIOS installed i.e. 0505
The BIOS settings are correctly setup i.e.
Under 'Onboard Devices Configuration':
RGB LED Lighting:
When system is in working state:
All On
Q-Code LED:
Disabled
When system is in sleep, hibernate or soft off states:
Stealth
Also, I have enabled ERP i.e. enabled for (S4+S5).
I should point out that I first tried this without the Aura Sync software installed under Windows. The BIOS fails to turn off the I/O shield LED lighting when the PC is shut down. It would appear that the BIOS code is simply not actioning the shutdown option i.e. stealth or Aura Off.
If I enter the BIOS and turn off the LEDs using the
option then the lighting turns off straight away and will remain off until turned back on regardless off how many re-boots/shutdowns subsequently take place.
It is as though the BIOS only correctly actions your choice of setting (i.e. All on) during the POST/boot phase, but as aformentioned fails to put into affect your chosen setting when shutting down (i.e. stealth).
I feel it fare to suggest that everything is fully working on the hardware level. It is simply the BIOS code which appears to be not working correctly.
Installing Aura Sync v1.07.79 on Windows solves nothing and nor would I expect it to, as the BIOS code is responsible for seeing to it that the LEDs are turned off at shutdown. The one useful thing that the Aura Sync application does provide is the ON/OFF button which allows you to manually turn on/off the LED lighting. This feature works fine. Hence, I am able to at least turn off the motherboard lighting manually before initiating a Windows shutdown.
