Anyone had success with R6E + DDR4-4000?

Hello,

I have the 7900X and 7980XE, and two Rampage VI Extreme boards.

On neither system, I have managed to get 4000 MHz RAM stable with RAM Test.

Corsair CMD32GX4M4E4000C19 - not stable with XMP (not on QVL of R6E but on QVL of R6A)
G.Skill F4-4000C18Q2-64GTZR - cannot even boot with XMP.

I have tried raising VCCIO, VCCSA, VCache and DRAM voltage but it seems nothing really helps. Both kits seems to be stable at around 3800C17. The Dominator kit can do 4000C17 using only two modules on my Rampage VI Apex with the 7740X chip.

Any tricks or will I just have to wait for Cascade Lake-X for possibly better memory support? :cool:

Manually tuning the timings can help you for sure. More voltage than needed can spoil things.

A pair of cpus with crappy IMC's is not probable.

I have r6e, 7980, GSkill 3600 *64gb had problems using XMp so set to manual and set dram voltage to 1.35v, memory now runs fine set at 3600 and will run quite happily at 4000 hzs.*
My m8e board had same trouble using xmp.*

Use the memory ddr 4000 1.45 volt preloaded setting under the memory timing portion of the bios after clearing your cmos. If you have a specific memory stick failing in say slot two of four sticks, swap it to slot four spot and the fourth one to the second one.. It can be tricky but it's possible yes.

Okay guys, it seems that VCCSA is the key with my G.Skill kit, like on X99. I tried too high voltages because on my 7740X and Rampage VI Apex, XMP set the VCCIO to 1.3 V and VCCSA to 1.3, so...I tried too high. But I could remember trying the same voltages with my Corsair kit and it didn't help at all. Could be a lower binned kit anyway.

Now I booted successfully with my 8x8GB G.Skill kit:

XMP on
VCCIO = 1.000 V (default)
VCCSA = 1.000 V
DRAM = 1.3500 V

RAM Test now at 450 % after 15 minutes so this is where the voltage tuning will most likely start.

That's it. 🙂 Thanks guys.

Yep, those voltages aren't applicable here (1.3v) and is far too much for the platform. Most CPU should not need more than 1v on VCCSA.

Be sure to check out and test the ROG memory profiles, too.

So far so good. Yeah, I know 1.3 V for VCCIO and VCCSA are on the self-destruct zone...

You'd better use HCI Memtest Pro to test memory stability!!!

I've heard The Stilt recommends RAM Test, also that RAM Test is way faster detecting errors than GSAT. So far RAM test has been working very fine for me in combination with Prime95.

RAM works very fine when I get it to boot, but cold boot never works. Now I tried setting:
Eventual DRAM voltage to 1.35
DRAM voltage to 1.45
VCCIO 1.05
VCCIO boot 1.05
VCCSA 1.000
VCCSA boot 1.05
Input 1.85
Input boot 1.85
Enhanced training enabled (CH A B C D) on/off

Nice OC, also same RAM as me, but your temps are very high, that OC is just too much for 360mm AIO.
