I have the same board and unfortunately you do have to take out the video card to be able to remove the chipset cover that is covering the second screw to be able to remove the heat sink cover completely so you can install the m.2 drive in the second slot. I recently added a new Samsung 980 Pro PCIe 4.0 card to the m.2 first slot and moved my older Samsung 970 Evo PCIe 3.0 to the second slot. Both drives run great under Windows. Kind of a pain at first, but well worth the effort. 🙂
