Windows 7 wont boot

Hello,

All of a sudden my computer was getting hung up on the windows loading screen. I tried to use the repair and it said I had recently plugged in a media device or something and to unplug and restart. I made sure I didnt have any such device plugged in and tried it again. Same error. I also tried to use the restore point but none of the restore points worked. I read somewhere to boot from my windows disk and use the repair tools on the windows disk. When I tried that it said I had to contact my system builder (me). I think that is because I have the OEM version. I would like to fix this problem so that I do not lose my data by doing a fresh install. Any help would be great.

Did you by any chance do a BIOS update?

What I am trying to find out is if there was any new hardware or anything different done to the system just before this error appeared.

No BIOS update.

I have had my second graphics card in for about 2 weeks but I had played games and stuff a few times with no problems. But that is the newest thing I can think of.

Hi there! 🙂

Maybe best to remove second card and anything else connected to usb ports etc....just to pare back the system to basics....maybe load BIOS defaults or clear cmos...

Some system details might help.....

If as you say your system is running at defaults, and you have not changed any hardware (or BIOS) in the day before the problem started, then I would suggest you attempt to use the rescue disc's that would have come with your OEM system.

If you do not have system discs and you are unable to rebuild the MBR then booting via a live CD/USB will allow you to enter the hard drive and save your data. It does seem like you are going to be doing a fresh install of OS.

I like both Slax and Puppy easy to use and simple to download and create the live USB OS.
