I can replicate this issue on non-ASUS cards. Can you confirm the make and model number of the GPU as well as the build of Windows, please?

Thanks for confirming - Yes I have a 2080ti FE directly from Nvidia (No branding) - I am currently running -
Edition - Windows 10 Pro
Version - 1809
OS Build - 17763.17

The profile can be saved and works when the application is open, however as soon as the app is closed or computer is restarted the app is reset to default. This is also true for the fan settings.

I've just tried again with ver 1.8.7.0 and the issue is still there and not fixed. Upon logout & restart the program defaults. All saved profiles are removed and fan settings also return to default.

PC specs are the same
Windows version is -
Windows 10 Pro
Version 1809
Build 17763.104

I have tested this version (1.8.8.0) with a reference 2080Ti and profiles are saving as expected as are user presets.

tested 1.6.7.0 for gtx1080ti and seems OK.. only the Tools menu where its supposed to recognize ASUS AURA (GFX) is giving me an "install" option, like its not recognizing i already have it.. worked fine on 1.6.5.0.
