for the next year mobos i recomend/ humbly ask for 2x M.2 slots options on the mid to high range cards, and 1 and maby 2 including pcie or onboard m.2 slot option.
if possible maby add an plx chip on the high range cards to take advance of the speeds of 2 cards whit out loosing performance on the GPU's or the SSD lanes.
as long as it does not go too mutch over the price range that is.
as of the Z170 there is only ONE mobo that have dual M.2 slot and that is a MSI mobo, and they are coming out whit 2 M.2 slots on their next boards this summer.
and the U.2 slots are more for the raid option if you ask me TBH, and the single drive for the U.2 slots are too expensive compare to a M.2 drive at current state.
and the U.2 drive aint even to see on my largest online pc store at all, they are droped and changed out by the M.2 drives, and the R/W speed on a M.2 is faster then on the U.2 drives.
so i would have had the U.2 slots more as an pcie expansion option if it was me, or just one on the mobo just for a nas option if that would be an option for the buyer, whit the raid options of 0 and 1 and 5 and 6 if the amount of drives support it.

thit is my opinion and what i would like to see on an upcoming range of motherboards next year, as long as they have not started the production on them.
