SPECTRE and MELTDOWN: Bug rocks Intel / ARM CPUs

Kinda glad I bought AMD this round. For those who don't know there is a new bug affecting just about every SKU from Intel made in the last .. ohh.. _DECADE_ or so. It's actually worse then F00F or FDIV. Only mitigation appears to castrate the CPU upward of 30%! (depending on processes).

Can Asus confirm AMD and more importantly for me, this or any AMD motherboard are not affected? If so, will there be RMAs?

Fun fact, Intel's CEO dumped stock back in November before they started issuing gags on people from even talking about it.

And now I understand ASUS Staffs who concen to release the new BIOS 1102x64 .

Core i9 7980XE performance hit around 8-18% with Retpoline Spectre Patch for Linux Kernel
X299 PCH I/O performance hit by 20-30%

Everyone the answer that Why ASUS didn’t release X299 bios 1102x64 May be from above.*

I wonder how those numbers will translate to Windows but that's looking pretty brutal.

I think all these spectre and meltdown game came out after nicehash got hacked in november or before end of october. Hackers gain intrest on cryptocurrency its easy income if to hack there. I think more is yet to come.

This whole business is starting to irk me sorely. If I am charitable I could concede that maybe this is a design oversight. However, in the light of the Snowden revelations and the ever creeping "we need to spy on you and curtail all your freedoms as the best way to protect your freedoms" culture, I am not feeling very charitable and the cynic in me adds this to the long list of open backdoors and zero day exploits hard coded into my devices by the self denominated powers that be.

This dissatisfaction is compounded by the sheer gall of the shill Tech-Site industry that are doing their best not to represent the consumer but to represent the industry, with their "move along not much to see here...it'll be alright.... oh have you seen the latest Intel masterpiece at CES it's so amazing you should buy it immediately" spiel.

Compounded by the fact that the CEO sold shares in his own company while suppressing information about this exploit.

Meltdown and Spectre were known about for ages; even if you swallow the story that they were "discovered" independently, all at roughly the same time, by four different teams. They had time to give them names and pre approved logos. A release date was agreed in the middle of CES which was broken only by a few days. And yet we are being told to believe that this few days pre release is what has everyone scrambling for microcode patches? Pull the other one...if you withhold information in the name of "responsibility" surely that responsibility is you working out all the mitigation and disclosing at the same time as releasing finished and tested (even optimised) patches and microcode.

None of this story makes any sense to a reasonably bright five year old but the Tech sites just parrot out the press releases...

I will not be surprised if intel made this bug in their cpu’s for a purpose; and its time for intel to gives the green light to the attackers to take advantage of this big.
Why? Because we are living in a miserable world, to force us to change all our hardwares and made tons of $$$$ *

The satellites patrol from the sky, and down on the streets there are so many surveillance cameras that you cannot even count them. As we listen to and watch smart televisions, so they listen to and watch us. The less we lose ourselves, the more is known where we are and how we are. The faster and easier we think, the less frequently we reflect on suggested conclusions. They named them intelligent cities, and we kissed even the lowest level of our privacy goodbye. Centralization of personal memories into corporative clouds is a new fashion trend. Soon after becoming firstly a prerequisite for employment, having a bank account suddenly became a prerequisite for the existence of life in general. The use of cash is banned. Even if you're employed, without a microchip you're without money. The unstoppable drop of money’s purchase power is being obfuscated by frequent inventions of more complicated definitions and more complex measuring parameters. Masses are indoctrinated with monopolized bizarre theory according to which the currency has always been unstable, not because there's something wrong with currency itself, but strangely because something has always been wrong with resources.

More and more of our world is based on computers (mobile, ARM, etc) and there is a ever growing army of people that want to hack it, break it, abuse it or burn it down for profit or for play. I get an sinking feeling that we will see more of this. I feel this huge bug is all just beginning."

Spectre, Meltdown... - are they a hardware bug(s) or a secret "NSA - New World Order" function?

In this computer era where, despite abundant freedom of choice between Windows, Linux or something else, all operating systems at the end behave identically according to pre-installed BIOS components, the point is not which computer is better to use, but first of all do we need to bother with this machines at all? Fascism, communism, capitalism, socialism, democracy included, from first to last these are all systems built on one and the same motherboard - the state.
Let's suppose that somehow, we eventually solved all internal problems with our personal computers.
Oppressive governments all over the world are using identical strategies and messaging in an attempt to stifle public dissent and further consolidate power. The corrupt interests in charge of centralized hierarchies, on a global basis, view the citizenry as enemies who need to be silenced and cowed. It is really them against us - the 99,99% of humanity.
The million dollar question is: why will you need your personal computer at all when in the very near future already unveiled plans to empower the government to completely censor the Internet - becomes fully implemented on a global level?

Z170-Pro here. I used to oc my 6700k @ 4400 1.28v because it became unstable above. Just tried tpu2 auto oc with the 3703 bios *and I am now stable @4600MHz, XMP and auto adaptive vcore. Of course voltage is higher (1.48v) and so temperatures. But it is obvious the latest BIOS improve stability.*
