SPECTRE and MELTDOWN: Bug rocks Intel / ARM CPUs

Kinda glad I bought AMD this round. For those who don't know there is a new bug affecting just about every SKU from Intel made in the last .. ohh.. _DECADE_ or so. It's actually worse then F00F or FDIV. Only mitigation appears to castrate the CPU upward of 30%! (depending on processes).

Can Asus confirm AMD and more importantly for me, this or any AMD motherboard are not affected? If so, will there be RMAs?

Fun fact, Intel's CEO dumped stock back in November before they started issuing gags on people from even talking about it.

This week for x99 strix broadwell-e????
I will perform clear cmos bios update than clear cmos then full format then reinstall windows*
I will update bios via online feature in the UEFI bios not via usb, more safe*

I signed up on here just to post this. Is my Maximus Hero vii getting a bios update for this vulnerability? There is no clear information on this in any press release. However here it says clearly Haswell(All SKUs) and I have a i7-4790K which is Haswell. Please tell me that my barely 3 year old MB is not already being left out in the cold on this. I paid a lot of money for this MB a few years ago. Am I getting a bios update or not?

waiting X99 Deluxe fix

Can someone pinpoint me as i am not sure of two things.

Should i wait for the bios update before performing the windows update?

Will the bios update also affect performance EVEN if i don't install windows update after ?

Any insight greatly appreciated. Thanks

AMD has an equivalent to Intel ME since 2013 in all their cpus. They claim EPYC is more secure but I would not believe that as it still has a similar function.

On the whole - besides price point and occasional open sourcing - AMD is worse than Intel. Their lower market share results in less fuss aboout exploits and bugs, but they also have unfixable microcode bugs like Intel.

Intel ME is part PCH components(and then may fully disable with special version UEFI (version for governmental structures)),not part CPU.
On AMD this equivalent have ability for disable on "civilian" consumer devices.

What about Z97 MBs??

Dear.
Updated uCodes today available only for Haswell-S CPUs on this platform (LGA 1150).
For Broadwell-S uCodes not available in last BLOB Intel cpu microcodes (201712).
Best Regards.
