ROG Forum page rendering issue

tocguy

Forum Menu and Search elements not rendering under IE11.

Page rendering in IE7 mode due to error in client sniffer script. 'MSIE' no longer contained in navigator.appVersion thus causing client detection error. Verify behavior by checking Document Mode status under IE11's "F12" Developer Mode Emulation page.

navigator.appVersion = "5.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; Trident/7.0; .NET4.0E; .NET4.0C)"

After changing Document Mode to emulate IE10 the missing Menu and Search elements are rendered and functional.
navigator.appVersion = "5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; Trident/7.0; .NET4.0E; .NET4.0C)"
Take note of the blue 'MSIE' in IE10 emulation mode.

Changing Document Mode emulation back to the default 'Edge' mode yields
navigator.appVersion = "5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; Trident/7.0; .NET4.0E; .NET4.0C; rv:11.0) like Gecko"

Note that there is no longer any MSIE in the response. This change will cause client sniffers to fail to detect IE11 correctly and failsafe back to a primitive page display.

Also, in asus_api.js line 1099 is causing the script to fail with the error "SCRIPT5007: Unable to get property 'replace' of undefined or null reference."

Asus might be bias against IE, use FIrefox.
LOL, jk. Not sure. Try adding the site to compatibility view.

Are you on a mobile device or desktop with IE?

Tried Compat first. No remedy as it just defaults rendering to IE7 mode as well.

Desktop
Win8.1 Pro x64 clean install

Please check what the ROG sniffer logic uses to detect IE11...

We've improved IE support the best we can, but all I can ask is: please use another browser 😞
