RMA'ing upgraded laptop

Hi,

I've submitted an RMA for a failure on the secondary hard-drive in my laptop. I am ok to return the laptop with the upgraded M.2 drive and ram I've installed or should I return it to stock?

The service inquiries section is for people having trouble with a failed RMA per the section sticky. As this is a general question I've moved it to General.

In short, I would revert it to stock if you are comfortable doing so. Theoretically they should only touch the failed component but on the off chance they do anything else I prefer to have them working with parts I don't care about rather than the ones I bought separately. Better safe than sorry basically.

Generally customers are advised to send in laptops with original components in case any modified parts are faulty, incompatible, or causing issues.

Thanks for the replies. Apparently I'm an idiot and I've managed to strip the screw holding the M.2 drive so my question was a bit redundant in the first place. The secondary drive at fault is clearly and loudly grinding though so hopefully they should still sort it. Fingers crossed.
