Hi,

I'v been buying asus proiducts for years and find them quite reliable.

I'v had a g74sx-3de laptop since 2012. It still goes strong and has been over seas in a couple of deserts. i'm going to upgrade the CPU to a 2760qm (Finally, as it is very cheap now to buy and the laptop will probably need its first clean!!)

Hello, I'm new here, just got an ROG IX Formula board hence my joining. I'll be doing some custom watercooling (naturally).

New user here awaiting the arrival of the Maximus IX Apex. Found on page 4 edgeup of Raja's z270 motherboard guide that the price will be $289

Hi All

Just put together a new ground up build after retiring my circa 2008 Q6600 2.4GHz Quad Core and P5E-Deluxe motherboard though it's had a few updates over the years such as memory and graphics.

New build completed last night and bench marked at 22,049 on 3DMark11 (P) with the on board 5-way optimized tuning. It's currently ranked 168 in the world for this benchmark with a single GPU GTX1070 card. Most higher bench marks are the more expensive Haswell CPU's so am happy with the result particularly with my inexperience with overclocking.

Asus ROG Maximus Formula IX Motherboard
Intel i7-7700K 4.2/4.5GHz CPU
Corsair ROG Dominator Platinum 3200MHz 4x4Gb DDR4 RAM
Asus ROG Strix GTX1070 OC 8Gb Graphics Card
Samsung 960 EVO m.2 250Gb SSD
Samsung 850 EVO SATA 250Gb SSD
Western Digital Caviar Black 1Tb 7200rpm/64Mb SATA HDD
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live Zx Sound Card

Corsair 780T (White) Full Tower
Corsair HX850i 80+ Platinum Full Modular PSU
Thermaltake Riing Water 3.0 RGB AIO 360mm CPU Cooler w/3 x 140mm Thermaltake RGB Fans
Thermaltake 140mm RGB Case Fans
Corsair K95 RGB Cherry MX Mechanical Keyboard
Razer Mamba RGB Wireless Mouse

Went together quite easily though the big case makes it a lot easier. No more cut knuckles!

I ran out of USB 2.0 headers on the motherboard so have ordered an NZXT USB expansion hub so I can hook up the Corsair Link cables to the PSU & RAM. There is only 1 on the board which is used for the front panel leaving none spare. I haven't added an optical drive on this one since I'm now using an external USB CD/RW drive for loading drivers and utilities. I'm hoping an updated Asus/ROG double bay front panel display might come out at some point in the future.

In a 25C room the CPU is pulling 33C at the moment but haven't seen it go over 52C which peaked during 3D Mark tests and 17% overclock. I generally run it at a lazy 7% overclock with the graphics card at a manually clocked 1835MHz.

Looking forward to reading some more of the posts on this Forum!

Hello: I am a returning middle-aged computer hobbyist ...after a long hiatus my most recent build is an ASUS Maximums IX Hero with AUSUS STRIX GTX 1070, iv7 6700 4.0Ghz., Corsair H100i V.2 cooler, Corsair Carbide 400C. Looking forward to using it for graphics intense gaming, after spending a long time with a many years-old build. Glad to have this community to look to for advice. Thanks ASUS - Alan

Hey all,

My name is jurfrey and I am an old enthusiast that has recently come back into the PC building fold. I have not built a machine since 2004 and am excited to be back at it. I have forgotten so much and I am relatively certain that is okay as what I knew back then is not all that relevant now. That being said, I do not know much and tend to ask questions that have obvious answers. Just know it is my process and I will learn eventually.

I am a software engineer by trade and have been working on a super large monolith since 2012. I recently built a machine to aid our lead architect and our senior engineers to crunch through the cruft of the monolith and get it down to the marrow. That machine is based around a 6950x modestly tuned for performance and longevity. It whetted my appetite so much that I went out and built a machine based around a 5820k.

Looking forward to interacting with you all in the forums.
