Price is expensive, and the speed is around average. All SSDs have low failure rates.

Nothing special there at all.

Price per GB is the way to shop for SSD right now in the SATAIII range. All should be doing 500+.

Personally I like a Samsung 830 due to the controller used, I am not a fan of the Sandforce controller in its current form and stay well away. Crucial M4 is very good too by the way.

edit: The Intel quoted is a Sandforce controller device.

I have heard that Intels have lower failure rates than the others, but that may just be hearsay. It seems like more people have issues with the Sandforce controller based SSDs, so I would second @HiVizMan's caution against those. Intel SSDs are expensive and not the fastest, but seem to have the longest life and fewest driver/firmware issues. Depending on your needs, that may be more valuable than the best performance...any SSD trashes a hard drive these days.
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

We now have 178 people whose systems will not break! Yippee! 🙂

It's funny, I hear there are apparent "issues" with the Sandforce controller based SSD's and yet, my own has given me no grief since day 1

Count yourself lucky - and I am sure there are many many thousands of folks who have not had any hassles either. 🙂

OCZ's press release

OCZ is pleased to announce that the cause of a BSOD issue experienced by some SF-2000-based drive owners has been identified by OCZ and SandForce. A new firmware update which directly addresses this BSOD occurrence related to SF-2000 based SSDs is available here. All newly manufactured OCZ SF-2000 based SSDs will feature the new 2.15 firmware revision (which is based on SandForce firmware version 3.3.2.) We highly recommend that any customers that have experienced the BSOD issue update their firmware to 2.15.

This bug was for all SF-2000 SSD's and let us hope that all new SSD drives that are sold are fixed.

Unless you intend to use a Bulldozer in the near future I would suggest not. If you have a problem down the line you can always update then.

Look as many have said they have not had any problems with their Sandforce SSD. I test and work with heaps of different SSD's I have had two OCZ fail on me and one Muskin. 3 out of 20 is not good. And that is just my personal test bench use. Enterprise networks that use SSD technology we will only use Samsung. Nothing else. Costs a bit but zero downtime.
