I have to ask about Matrix 2080 TI

1mluer

When can we get some kind of idea when it will be releasing. The last piece of my new build is the video card.

Can we get an idea of timing? Saw it on CES reviews and loved it. I bought everything ASUS including the PSU. I will be hard pressed not to buy the Kingpin 2080 TI if it is released before Matrix. They said this March time frame back in Early February.

Anyway, Anything you can provide in terms of this product would be a great help and keep me from doing something else.

Thanks,

Mike

The problem is that these are all one off's cards. This means 1 card here 1 card there and none of it actually really verified. it's almost hard to believe anyone actually has one.

Still no communication or positioning of the product anywhere. All we get is a bunch of ghost pre-order sites that now say expected delivery in January 8th 2020. The competitor is releasing the 2nd wave of cards today.

Hi evryone ! 🙂

Once again, sorry for my bad english.

I just remembered. I forgot to share somes pics of my ROG build here.

About the Matrix. After overcklock, my card run at 2055 - 2130MHz depending the game @ maximum 69°C on my Evolv X whith a custom fan curve. I'm juste a little bit desaponted about the coil whine on my sample.

Can you tell us from where did you get the Matrix card please ?
We want same.
Thank you!

I bought mine here :
https://www.pcdiga.com/placa-grafica-asus-geforce-rtx-2080-ti-rog-matrix-11gb-gddr6
It should arrive in the next 24 hours.

And there seem to be one available sample here :
https://sklep-met.pl/p/3794/3393437/karta-graficzna-geforce-rtx-2080-ti-rog-matrix-gaming-11gb-gddr6...

EAch and every day I have tracked any page referring the SKU number and made sure I didn't miss anything I had 2 occasions in april but I messed up thinking I could get them from Itfriend.eu for much cheaper.

Retailers from what I could gather didn't get more than 4 pieces each.
I would say pre ordering is your best bet to be honest... but first contact the retailer to see if you can get any ETA and how many people are on the waiting list.

Amazing! Still awaiting my shipping confirmation from my pre order. Are you going to post come results, like clock speed you seeing and thermals?

I have done some testing, I am pretty underwhelmed to be honest... I wonder what ASUS meant when they stated the Matrix were the top5% of strix...
I'll get back later on that, forgive me but i barely did any testing stock since some issue distracted me.
All the tests were run on my 7980XE at 5GHz and 3.3GHz mesh with the dimms clocked at 3800MHz CL14

The only test I ran stock was firestrike, I know the CPU is a limiting factor here nontheless the card scored nearly 37K in it's stock configuration with a peak clock at 2010MHz.
To compare my overclocked 2080 Ti Strix peaking at 2115MHz scored 35700.
https://www.3dmark.com/fs/19195362

If you checked that result I am sure you figured out what issue distracted me from doing more stock testing...
Generic VGA... I don't get it. I have reinstalled the drivers, reinstalled 3DMark but to this day my submission are still invalid whereas the 3DMark app does recognize the card.
Oh well lets move to another issue.

For some reason the card first refused to take any power limit or voltage increase...
Reinstalling the drivers did nothing. Reflashing the bios with the same one downloaded from TPU fixed it. Really weird...

When it comes to the VRAM that's as expected from samsung mine seems to scale up to 2090MHz.
However when it comes to clockspeeds I really am not impressed so far please please note that I have very little experience with Turing overclocking.

The card seem to be able to do 2115MHz at 1.068V. but I can't really tell since it clocks down quickly after.
Playing with the voltage / clock curve is necessary here. The thing is that with the AIO the temps take a bit of time to rise so you'll start with a very aggressive overclocking which is going to limit the offset you can apply and once the temps come down you find yourself with a very weak OC thanks to GPU boost.
In superposition 1080p extreme leaving the fans on auto, the card would first run at 2115MHz and finish at a ridiculous 1900MHz due to the temperature moving from 44°C to 68°C (on top of my head)
Running the test again with the fans maxed out the card slowly clocked down to a much more respectable 2040MHz at the end of the test scoring 10200.

Sorry as I don't have win10 installed I didn't do any Time Spy run.
However I did run Firestrike Ultra, Extreme and classic with a peak clock of 2115MHz and the memory at 2085MHz
respectively the Graphics score respectively reached : 9225, 18921 and 39097

So yeah I really feel underwhelmed for now considering some strix do 2190MHz on air according to der8auer and I would think a top5% bin should be able to come a lot closer especially with a higher power limit.

I am currently shunt modding the card, it's going to be fun I hope.

Anyway, the second card ships next week, hopefully it's going to be better.

Wow, if thats the case, I am going to be dissapointed. My Strix 2080ti will do 2025 mhz stable in mostly all games at 65C @ 70% fan speed.

Your post makes a strong case for the Strix 2080Ti OC edition and leaves me feeling like the Matrix is just a waste of money.

I've litterally been thinking the SAME thing ... Especially after reading some negative feed back about the pump noise... Might as well just get an OC STRIX...
