Hello all - don't like coffee so give me tea.......or some coke ( cola
😛 )
Any ways after wasting a few years I decided to go to tech and get a semi decent qualification, I'm currently doing a HNC in Electrical and Electronic engineering, and as the 2 year course is nearly up I've been looking around for something in that field (well actually anything that will get me out of my current job haha) and seen a few weeks ago that a company called Bombardier is recruiting for apprentices in electrical engineering so filled in their online form and got a reply last Friday saying that I have to go to Belfast (about 35 miles down the road) to do an aptitude test.
Went to the test yesterday, first test was verbal comprehension which was actually quite easy TBH, the second test was Numerical Computation, now math's would be one of my stronger point, and I worked as fast as I could but I couldn't get the test finished, got to the 6th page, didn't even get to see the 7th lol, and its not that the questions were overly difficult, it was the time limit, 36 q's in 10 minutes, the questions were arranged sort of like 17 ? 16 = 34 X 8 etc of 75% of 12.44 etc. I know the questions I answered I got right but as I said I couldn't get the test finished.
Third test was on Visual estimation, where each question shows you 5 shapes all of a similar size but some raised slightly higher or lower than others to throw you off and you have to choose the 2 that are the same size (there's always 2) but the shapes got a lot more complex as the test went on (and again a very strict time limit)
The last test was mechanical comprehension, each question would show a number of pictures, some of wheel cogs or fo a lever and you had to answer questions such as - which lever would be easiest to push down, is the lever moves in the direction shown in what way would X move, is this cog moves anti-clockwise how many of the remaining (7) cogs move clockwise, this at the start seemed simple but the questions got progressively harder and again a very strict time frame.
After the test the two people from the company said that there was going to be a few more weeks of testing (ther was around 30 people sitting the test in the group I was in) and that we should hear word back after then, with interviews for chosen applicants in late may/june.
In summary - damn aptitude tests! lol I know I did rather good on the first 2 tests ( confident that I got all the questions I answered correct, except I did miss out some math questions) and I did the best I could in the last 2 just have to wait and see, talking to 1-2 of the other applicants when we were in between getting 1 test and collection of the other with the vocal point being stupid time lol.
This ended up being a larger post than intended so apologies and also apologies foe terrible grammar and spelling
