CPU run hot on ROG Board

Greetings, I have a Problem with my CPU (i7-4790K) on my ROG Maximus VII Hero.

My CPU Temperature is getting hotter and hotter.

For normal I have Idle Temp around 30 Degree.

Now i have 45-55 Degree (Celsius) with my Corsair Water Cooler (H100i GTX) und 65-75 Degree with Stock Cooler,

I have got an new CPU from Intel so this is not the Problem.

Anybody else has this Problem? Is my Board defective?

Thanks

Sorry for bad English 😉

Hi Nate, what Cache Voltage should i configure? I have read in an OC Thread that the Cache Voltage is about 0,25V lower than the Core Voltage.

Yesterday I made a Stress Test and everything worked fine. Then I turned off the PC and startet it again at my CPU has very hot Temperature again.

My Water Temp at Corsair H100i GTX was about 46° Celsius! I think my Problem is not an permanent error, it comes and goes..

I will try to change the PSU today and test again. At least I will switch back (once againg) to stock fans on my water cooler...

If you're not overclocking the cache set the cache voltage to 1.00v - 1.10v, this should help reduce temps.

Ok thank you Nate,

it is not getting better with another PSU so I have ordered a new Asrock Fatal1ty Z97X Board (no Asus Board is anymore available on 1150 Socket :(, I will try this and give you an update.

I have recognised one interessting thing.

When I need much Power (Gaming, Furmark etc.) I hear a high frequenzy noise. In German it is called "Spulenfiepen". I found a translation : Coil Whine.

I did not have heared this before so I think my Board is really dying. Thank you all and I give you keep you updated.

Just out of curiosity: can you describe the cooling of your system? With special attention to the location of your computer, ambient temp, location of the fans and their orientation...
Some pics may help too... we are missing something here...*

Hi,

my room temperature is ab 22-25 ° Celsius today.

For my testing my case is now open for 2 weeks. I use 3 Nocutua Fans (2 on water cooler and one at the rear) and 2 Cooler Master Stock Fans in Front.

Here is another Update:

I have looked at my cooler because of the recent Post and refitted the Cooler again. For half an hour it worked with nice temps (33° on Idle, 72° with Prime95 Small FTT Test and 52° with Intel Benchmark).

Now my System is running for 2 hours and my Problem is back again....

I will try another CPU Cooler tomorrow..

FYI: I have tried stock Corsair Fans and then I switched back to Noctua. The Noctua Fans are surely not the Problem.

Thank you!

Does task manager show anything putting a load on the cpu when you're at idle ?

All right,

Do you have the pump power cable connected to the W-Pump header? This should keep the pump running 100% at all times.

You have a nice clean looking machine. 🙂

Thank you 🙂

So I have replaced the Corsair Watercooler with a cheap Thermaltake Contac21 Cooler and my Problem is solved 🙂

I don't know why the Corsair H100i is cooling fine for half an hour and then the temp. goes up....

But with the air cooler I do not have this problem, my CPU temp goes immediatly down after hours of Stress Testing...

So guys thank you all for you help!
