Connectors Don't Match Pins?

Hi,
I'm building a box for 3D animation using a NZXT H510 case, and an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 Mainboard.

I mounted the MB, PSU, 2 extra fans,
but have 2 problems/questions:

  • The connector for the front panel does not line up with the pins on the MB.
Is there an adapter for the panel connector?
  • The fan connectors are for 3 pins, and the MB has 4 pins (extra is 5v)
Can I use the fan connectors as is?
What is the 5v pin for?

Thanks for your help!

The three pin connectors are for DC fans, 4 pins are for PWM fans. The DC connector will fit the same header on the motherboard, the plastic guide will connect it onto only three of the pins, and by default the BIOS will auto detect DC or PWM.

Thanks. I found today that the 3pin fans will run, just can't control speed.

Also found a short cable I'd missed with all the connectors except for "reset"....no problem.

After connecting everything...OS HD, PSU, GPU to motherboard, plugging in the keyboard,
connecting the monitor, I turned it on, the fans run, but it doesn't have a boot screen, not even a blue screen.
Will take it to a local computer guy tomorrow to fix it.

Thanks again! 😉
