Cant downgrade bios after 2202?.

Hiya.

I upgraded my maximus viii hero mobo to bios 2202 months ago.
I'm trying to test something out to see if rolling back to the older bios fixes something I have both the 2202 bios.cap and the 2001.cap files on an usb.
The 2002 has been on there since I flashed it.
I go into bios hit the bios flash option select the usb select 2001.cap bab this is not a correct bios file?.
Strange.
Select 2002 no problems.
Ok so I go back into windows make sure both the names are the same all good.
Still no go.
Redownloaded the file incase it got corrupt still wont accept it.
I even downloaded 1092.
Tried to even rename it to AM8.CAP still wont accept it.
Deleted 2002.cap redownloaded copied onto the usb went into bios again selected it are you sure you want to flash this bios.
So is asus preventing us from downgrading once 2002 is flashed?.
I don't want to do the bios flashback because if its saying its not a proper bios file I don't want to brick my mobo I have learned that the hard way from previous boards and stupidity.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi unix43

Instead of using the EZ Flash Utlity in the bios, use the Bios Flashback feature.

You'll want to rename the bios file to M8H.CAP
