Asus z170-a bios fashl problem

hi everyone.when i try to flash old versions of bios on my MB write erro SELECTED FILE IS NOT PROPER BIOS
can anyone help me ?

There have been over 6000 downloads of Z170-A-ASUS-0050.zip

Apparently loading the contents to a USB flash drive and flashing from within the bios options works for some people.

The Z170-A-ASUS-0050.zip looks like a very risky modded BIOS to me.
Without some hex dumps and a better explanation there is no way I would flash it on an expensive new board!

Now if someone dumped the latest 2202 version and could demonstrate that a turbo flag was the only difference...

The 2202 BIOS is probably only for Sabertooth an Maximus versions.

I'm thinking of experimenting with overclocking dual core processors.
ASUS allows base clocking changes in the Sabertooth BIOS but its not well documented.
The non K version of the I7 6700 *was* overclockable to 5.2GHZ with prior BIOS versions.
There is a rumor that Intel has forced the board manufacturers to remove that capability.

I really don't think it would be wise to disable the CPU temperature sensor from the system monitoring, then overclock the CPU till it melts.
IF there is sufficient cooling and temperature monitoring as there would be on a Sabertooth motherboard there should be no problem.

So you are overclocking a K processor?

Simplest method is to use Asus EZ Flash 3 if your motherboard supports it. Look in the BIOS under Tools for Asus EZ Flash 3.


Edit; I just looked at specs for your board. You do have Asus EZ Flash 3.

i know bro about asus ez flash but dude say i can flash via bios flashback but i can't find flashback on my motherboard 🙂

So there is a check in EZflash that prevents older BIOS versions from being flashed over newer versions?

This is starting to look a little suspicious. I asked ASUS customer service about which BIOS to use when overclocking dual core processors. Here is a guide for flashing older BIOS but it looks risky.

ASUS customer service replied to my question about overclocking dual core processors, they said "the option to change the BCLK is part of the BIOS and always present there regardless of BIOS version." So there is no lockout for non K chips (in the ASUS BIOS).
