Hey All,
I just got an Asus Prime Deluxe II. It comes with a Fan Extension II expansion. I haven't seen a lot if any info on this extension revision. All the pictures online look different. This one sits on a 2.5" drive bay and is about the width and height of a 2.5" SSD
I have a Fractal R6 with three case fans total. I'm running the 3 pin rear fan out of Fan Chan 2 on the MB and I'm running my two 3 pin front fans off of the Fan Extension II card.
When I plug any case fans into the MB fan channel headers, the bios Q-Fan optimize routine works fine - it does its calibration and it lowers the minimum DC level I can set a fan to which is useful because I want a quiet computer.
With the fans plugged into the Fan Extension II, the Q-Fan optimize routine sets both the front fans to a min and a max of close to 100%. I'm trying to fix this by bring the min to where it should be - around 30% or so.
I would rather not use the Thermister option cables the MB came with. I don't need adaptive fan speeds. I just want to be able to set them to a slow spin - around 600-1000 rpm and right now Q-Control won't let me. In my troubleshooting I thought maybe the Q-Fan optimize routine won't work unless i have at least one thermister plugged in so I did that and just let it hang in the closed air of my case, but even with this plugged in the Q-Fan won't change the min/max of the fans to anything other than around 100% I also don't want to install AI Suite 3 just set my front fan speeds.
I need to double check that in fan DC mode I can't lower the fan speeds to the amount I want, but I'm fairly certain that because of the Q-Fan optimize routine, my mininum is 90% on one fan and 100% on the other and i can't drag the curve lower.
By the way, I have the Fan Extension II plugged into sata for power of course and more importantly into the node in of the MB like the manual says.
Any help would be much appreciated!
