A lot depends on your usage. I have 2 SSDs in both my G73's. I like SSDs in notebooks since there are no moving parts, and uses less power (not to mention speed.) In my desktop I have just one with an additional 7200 RPM hdd for my data. But that's just the way I like to organize things. I think if I had a spare 256 GB ssd I would add it to my desktop since all of my notebooks already have ssds. Another thought is to put it into a USB 3.0 enclosure and use it for an external back up drive. (I have several SSDs for that purpose too.)
