Z690 ram advice

Leatherskull
Level 7
Hi Folks - Am hoping someone might shed some light on my dilemma. Have a Maximus Z690 MB and i9 12900K. Could not check them out as I had no DDR5 memory. Time ticking away. Got a chance to acquire 32 GB of DDR5 (2x16GB). Ram is Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5-4800 PC5-38400 CL40 Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit CMK32GX5M2A4800C40 - Black

CAS Latency 40
RAS to CAS Delay 40
RAS Precharge Time 40
RAS Active Time 7

Reached out to Corsair and ASUS about compatibility but never heard back from either (Holidays and Covid??) Several folks told me the ram would be fine even though it was not specifically listed on the QVL list - they said the list had not been updated since the board was released. So I took the chance and bought the ram but now to test out the new hardware means disrupting my current system for all the other parts required to test out the new MB, CPU and ram.

Can anyone give me some feedback on this particular ram working on the Z690 Hero. The idea now of the MN and cpu not being returnable because they are "not working" but I have had them for longer than return period allows is disturbing. I confess I am a 75 yr. old gamer and this will supposedly be my last system upgrade.
Any help and or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

To confirm, you've not tried the kit yet? 4800C40 shouldn't give you much trouble at all.

Thanks for your response! No I did not try it and unfortunately just found out that my Z690 Hero is one of the defective ones from manufacturing. A critically polarity sensitive capacitor was installed backwards on some boards and these have been experiencing burn-outs after a couple of boots. 😞 Almost impossible how such a manufacturing error could possibly occur! If interested is explained on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdoB9p3LXVQ&t=1s
Thankfully Amazon is taking it back and refunding me,,, but ...now no MB - have an i9 12900K and DD5 ram so - all dressed up with no place to go 😞
